I wanted to check in before I lose the opportunity to do so with this upcoming week ahead. I have been ultra busy with work at both the full time and part-time job, mostly, but also errands, household chores and trying to get a little bit of sleep in between! Also, dealing with the added stress of no cigarettes...For 19 days.
It's a huge accomplishment for me. It has been a roller coaster ride, mainly of emotions, anger, irritation. The first two days I was going to rip someone's head off. Probably literally. I felt like crying constantly. It was like severing a relationship.
I still haven't smoked any cigarettes, it has been 19 days. My desire to smoke is still there. I am still feeling annoyed, angry, more easily stressed, and with no real outlet for that stress. I do have a nicotine inhaler, and some gum I am still chewing on. I also DO have an e-cigarette a friend borrowed me, but I am trying not use that except for "emergencies" since arguably the e-cigs are worse for your health than regular cigarettes.
What I have NOT done since I quit smoking: Weighed myself. and I am feeling a little bit fatter. That kind of worries me, as I have felt so lackluster and without energy that I haven't pushed myself to exercise too much besides walking.
I have noticed the following though:
*Mood stabilizing JUST A LITTLE BIT more than it had been - less "on the verge of tears" as I had been the first couple weeks
*No more coughing / sneezing phlegm (sorry, gross)
*Slight stomach ache / changes in BMs (again, gross, but I wonder if any of the sugar free candies I have been eating here and there have had any effect)
*Generally, my clothes and my car are both smelling much better than I am used to!
*I have NOT starting running yet like I had planned to. I need to soon. But I need some energy and to get some quality sleep.
On the plus side, also, I do not feel the urge to go to bars OR go to the casino - which are my two fun "night time" activities, as I am truly afraid I will relapse. My will does not feel THAT strong to put myself in those situations quite yet..........
However, that will NOT stop me from having a couple beers with dinner tomorrow, mwahaha.
Please send words of wisdom if you got 'em!

No real words of wisdom. But certainly a bit of congratulations is in order. Quitting smoking is not easy at all. I know, having been a smoker myself oh, it's never easy. I quit for 13 years started back up for whatever reason. It happens. Keep at it, I think you will do fine with it.

You got this!!!!
Hell I quit cold turkey and lived with a smoker. I did get hypnotized but I still wanted them,
You need to beat the hell out of something, helps a lot.

Have you ever tried meditating? I’ve never smoked (and my dear mother of blessed memory quit when they put her in the hospital for emphysema), so I don’t know how hard it is. My prayers are with you.

I like the title. For 19 days without a smoke that means you are already weaned from the habit.

You are doing good. The old cliche just one day at a time works.
