This discussion isn't about Lumbini Temples but about steps per day

We don’t have fitbits or pedometers but we discovered while we were in Nepal that Vince’s phone was recording the number of steps we took each day. I’ve read somewhere that the 10,000 steps you’re supposed to walk each day was thought up as a selling feature for the ubiquitous fitbits but that’s another story.
The day of our bus trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara, we had a short walk to the bus stop then 11-hours in a bone-shaking trip. We took a taxi to our hotel and had another short walk to find a meal. However, the phone said we’d done 5,000 steps for the day. I’m sure it counted at least some of the bumps in our journey. If you have a fitbit, has it ever come up with dodgy figures?
Photo is of two more of the temples in the Lumbini Gardens. The one in the top left is the Myanmar Temple.

We only have the phone which took it on itself to monitor our steps. We'd look at it before we went to bed if we remembered. Some of the fitbits are very fancy and count calories, sleep patterns and all sorts.

@JudyEv my d-i-l has a gadget on her phone that bings every time my son uses his bank card and lets her know how much he has spent and where he spent it. Probably knows every time he uses the dunny and how long he’s in there. This just irritates me.

Those gadgets seem designed to make you believe that you are doing great and you must suggest to your friend to buy one.
I have heard from people who found 5,000 steps on their phones in the morning, while they were sleeping.
Those photos are beautiful, the temples are kept in great conditions.

I have a different brand right now. Usually it seems to count less than I think I did.

@JudyEv Have a fitbit ordered. Hopefully it gets here Tuesday like they say. I ordered one that is supposed to help record the calories burned also. I dont have a good way of tracking that.

@wolfgirl569 That would be useful but I wonder how it calculates that just from sitting on your wrist.

This is good because walking is good for physical and mental health.

Certainly, walking is very good for a person for the reasons you say.

Sometimes, or an app I had on my phone seemed to record some steps but not others.

I've heard of Fitbit and my wife has one although she is not using it. But I don't know about that 10,000 steps.

@JudyEv oh I see. That's a pretty good distance in walking, I guess.

the phone uses the relative position of the GPS - in the moutains, you can have some level of error.
plus at most, it is around 500 steps.
That 10,000 step thing is actually one doctor's came up with for the American Heart Association. BUt that is the amount for me, for women, the number is closer to 7500 steps per day!
