'Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed / A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed / Then one day he was shootin' at some food / And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude; Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea...'
Remember this theme song? It was from the silly sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. I didn't realize that the show ran for so long. It ran from 1962 to 1971. I thought it was silly but sort of enjoyed the beginning episodes of the spin-off Green Acres.
Just thought it was weird that the show was on for so long.

The Beverly Hillbillies was a very good sitcom on television. What I did not know is that if was a spin off of Green Acres.

@celticeagle I like the Flintstones since the Stone Age reminds me of my late grandparents who lived in the countryside of Panama..

You remind me a bit of Ryan that played the grandma. She was so feisty and cute.

@celticeagle Go on Youtube and find the video of Granny singing I am Woman. Totally hilarious.

Some old sitcoms now do seem rather silly but The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres and others kept me from being bored when I was growing up and kept me interested. Remember then there were no computers so you watched TV or you listened to the radio. Actually these sitcoms considering that were very entertaining.

In those days there were very few channels to watch. Anything was welcome for entertainment!

Compared to some of the sitcoms that I see bits of I like the characters more than anything especially Ellie May.
I really don“t have time to watch sitcoms anyway or comedies here the Spanish ones are quite bad to see all the way through they are just not funny only in bits and pieces.

I grew up watching that show. I enjoyed it! I'm surprised too that it ran for nine years.
