I keep posting about hubby having abdominal pain. I post about waiting for results back from a urine culture. So here is the latest:
The urine culture came back showing no bacterial infection. Okay, so I felt good about him refusing the antibiotic, BUT . . .
He had a Cat Scan of his bladder, etc. Looking for stones.
According to the scan, he does have a bladder infection. He does need antibiotics.
Before he left the doctors they gave him a shot for pain, and one shot of antibiotics.
He will pick up the oral antibiotics tomorrow.
Oh, they gave him something else. . .
He was having to wait to be seen by the doctor, so they asked if he would like to lay down in one of the rooms. . . he said if he did, he would likely fall asleep. They said "That's okay." They let him sleep for TWO HOURS. They gave him a nap.
I am glad that they had room to spare for him to restFebruary 2020.
I am glad we did not have any ER trips.
I am glad that his hemoglobin continues to improve. It is in normal range now.
I am glad he has gained thirteen pounds since August.
So although he is not feeling the best right now, his health seems to be improving.
You can bet I will be making him drink more fluids.

Yep, precisely. Nice this is a small town. Weird about the medical tests. I would like to understand it better.

My father in law suffered with UTI's and bladder infections (bladder cancer) last year, averaged one a month until Sept when with one he got septic and found he had a kidney stone blocking one of his kidneys. He had surgery to remove the stone, too large to pass. The doctor's kept telling mom in law to give him more to drink whether he wanted it or not. Have they checked him for kidney stones too large to pass?? Thankful to hear he is gaining weight and his blood count is normal. Continued prayers

The CT scan was for stones, so I guess it would have shown. My sis had one and they did a laser treatment and broke it up so it would pass.

@GardenGerty with his the kidney stone was on one side cancer tumor in the bladder blocking other side of tube so they removed tumor, broke up and removed stone piece by piece. Thought it best for him to pass as little as possible.

It’s so refreshing when the doctors remember they’re in the healing business. My doctor’s office let me sleep yesterday, too!
I’m a huge proponent of resting when ill, because I’ve seen how much it helps. I’m glad they let him rest, because sometimes that’s 2/3 of the “medication” we need!
Glad he’s doing better, too. And yes, pump that water into him!!!

Good they let you rest as well. I am sure they knew he would be uncomfortable sitting to wait. He did not have an appointment and they had to work him in.

Talked to him just a minute ago when he got up for the bathroom, he says he is doing a little better today than he was before.

He was in the clinic. We avoided the ER this time, and I am glad.

@LadyDuck Or maybe they decided that since he does not have stones, cancer or cysts he MUST have an infection. His urologist in the VA is very cautious about antibiotics.

@GardenGerty It is so wrong to take antibiotics if not needed. I know that a Cat Scan is great to detect kidney stones, cysts or tumors. May be that now it can also detect an infection.
