I'm thinking to start a business, it's a food restaurant which is good I think since it is people needs but I'm afraid to lose my investment! Do you think it's a good business or should I think of other businesses? or maybe I should partner up with someone who knows about running a business?

If you wish to start a food business, I suggest you start small first. Perhaps there are night markets in your area? You can start by opening a small stall with low rental. I have a friend who has a stall at a night market. The rental is low and the returns is high. She would never think of opening a brick and mortar restaurant because the rental will eat into her income.

exactly! some people here just set out their wares in the morning and wrap up by lunchtime. very minimal operating cost.

Starting a business is easy if your heart is in it. the business that you should get into is something that should be close to your heart, it should be something that you love doing.if going into a restaurant business you must know how to cook. If you want to put up a beauty parlor you must know how to trim hair. Those are just the basics. You must also establish your market. Most of all you must have a longer rope, liquid assets that can finance your operations. The first few months may not be good.

Every business involves some risk. If you have an appetite to take that risk, go for it. Research well before you start one.

@tech40 Yes. A good research helps you plan out well and also make note of all possible risk factors.

If you can afford to lose your money you may not be a good businessman. This is what I heard from others. In every business undertakings or ventures there's always a risk involved So be ready with yourself to take that risk.

@tech40 But the tendency to fail could be avoided if it's well planned.

Keep in mind that every type of business involves risk and you have to be ready for it. Start small and select a business that you will truly enjoy. You have to consider a lot of things, too, like capital, location, permits, and licenses, etc.

It is not easy and you probably need legal help to make certain you are covered if anything goes wrong. We run several small businesses and some of them turned into large businesses. Our legal adviser looked over our business plans and it has been a great help.
