mother had mouth sores so she couldn't finish the pineapple. the lemon has been in the fridge for months. the saba bananas (cooking banana) had gone dark and soft.
i remember we had cucumber so i blended the cucumber, pineapple and lemon with water to make a juice. the result was quite sour so i added sugar.
the bananas were a flop. i sliced and fried them but they didn't cook well (stayed yellow) and/or broke in half. they were just too soft they should have been mashed and mixed with flour before frying.
actually, i was eyeing the box of instant pancake mix earlier (the just add water kind) and should have mixed and baked it in the toaster instead.
have you tried pineapple, cucumber and lemon juice?
how about fried bananas?

i think they use the firm one for banana cue so it doesn't fall of the stick and the softer ones for the turon since it's wrapped.
when it comes to boiled bananas, i like the ripe ones.

we have different kinds of bananas here, but yes, i've seen people in other countries frying the big yellow bananas.
i made cucumber lemon juice before. i just mixed the pineapple in so it does not get wasted.

@hereandthere Banana fritters are made with the sweet yellow bananas, as well as flambes bananas with rum. I do not like the taste of cucumber, the dentist told to my husband to avoid lemon juice for his teeth, so this is not something I would prepare.

@hereandthere You blender them? I think that is really healthy. Maybe I should try it here too

@averygirl72 yes. but you have to peel the skin, remove the seeds, slice them into smaller chunks and add some water. it's a good way to consume fruits and vegetables that are starting to rot, than throwing them away.

@hereandthere I think I should have blended it more - and maybe used fullcream milk rather than low-fat.

there were about 5 or 6 bananas. i'm not sure if the pancake mix would be enough.

@thelme55 my sister did use the instant pancake mix to make pancakes but also coated the leftover fried bananas in it.

@hereandthere you can make your own banana pancakes if you have flour, sugar, milk and eggs. Just mix them all together with the mashed bananas.

@hereandthere Corn starch has a smooth texture than the flour.

@Mabeljoe i see. and i guess it helps the slices stick together, too.

I know I've had cucumber with lemon, and pineapple with lemon, but maybe not those 3 together as a juice. How was it after adding the sugar? When I have overly ripe bananas, I tend to mash and bake . . . last week I actually made banana blueberry muffins - we had 2 ugly bananas. I've only had fried bananas in restaurants - oh so good - but never made them at home.

@hereandthere They turned out pretty well! Also I should say that these were also fresh blueberries that were getting old.

We make fried bananas sometimes. Though I prefer to eat plantain ripe and uncooked. This morning I boiled them to add to the husband's packed lunch.
I haven't tried that kind of juice. We usually use cucumbers to make cucumber onion salad (with apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar). We also make cucumber lemon water on hot days.

i did try cucumber lemon first, but the lemon overpowered the cucumber so i had to add sugar.
this time, i added the pineapple because no one was eating it.
yes, i heard that eating plain saba uncooked is healthier.

@hereandthere yes, you can add sugar or honey.in half liter of water, i'd normally throw in about 6 slices of cucumber and 2 slices of lemon.
