Day 211 Promise 281 Proverbs 3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 12 For whom the LORD loves he corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights. Nobody likes punishment or correction. Yet, everyone experiences a form of punishment in their lifetime, usually when they are young. Solomon said not to despise correction. Correction is a form of love not only by parents but also by God. As Christians, you feel God’s correction more than you did when you walked with the world. God wants you to know what he expects from you just as your parents told you what they expected and corrected you when you disobeyed the rules. Hebrews 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loves he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives. 7 If ye endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chastens not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye illegitimate, and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward, it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. God’s promises are centered in love. If God didn’t love you, He wouldn’t treat you as His son or daughter. He wouldn’t have given You His Word that shows what He requires of you. He would allow you to do whatever you please without consequence. However, God loves you and chastises you when you disobey Him. Have you felt God’s chastisement? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for loving me and showing me Your love through correction. Help me to be obedient to You and Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. I had a dream and in the dream did something wrong. Then the outcome was disturbing enough to wake me up. That is why I remember it so well. There is a connection in my real life. I wonder if the angels are trying to tell me something. Whatever, I can still observe and make a correction. Mysterious!
