Where does your name come from?

Romania

I am talking here about the myLot name. Mine is a story from childhood, I use this username everywhere. I always liked rap music, that is the "rap" part from my username. Peter is my actual name. The number comes from my favourite football player from that time, Michael Ballack, who wore this number at the German national team and at Bayern Munich, my favorite football team, too. I made my username 18 years ago, and I kept it since. How about you? Where does your username come from?

I do not use an avatar. That's my real name. Good story.

My name is too common, and it is hard to have a username like that. That is why I tried to make it unique, when I was 13 years old.

@rappeter13 Your avatar has rhythm. Good thinking when you turned teen.

@MALUSE The internet is virtual. An avatar could also be a name.

@DianneN a valid reason I didn't know it, either. I was 13 and I made my email address. I liked it and it remained as my online alter-ego.

Porwest comes from an old company name I took on. I was going to start up a distribution company dealing manly, at that time, with Poore Brother's potato chips. Thus, Por. The West part comes from where I lived at the time and where the company would have been based out of. West Allis, WI. The company never took off. But I kept the name.

@porwest So, it was more of muscle showing from the current distributor.

@rappeter13 I couldn't get the license away from the current distributor who held the license to distribute the product in the areas I was wanting to distribute to, EVEN THOUGH they were not distributing the product to those areas.

mine came from the frustration that I never seemed to get there first. Meaning my actual name, was always alrady taken as a user name, so cperry2 became my representation. It is still actually my name though. you see, I am a junior, cperry2 = cperry jr

So, it is also a logical way to take it. 2 meaning that you are the second Clint Perry in the family.

@rappeter13 exactly right. There is a third now as well. (Although he assures me, he will never allow his son to be named the fourth.) He and his wife have vowed to have no children of their own. Unfortunately, I believe him. He would make such a great dad. Maybe they will adopt at some point.

I use the name "Indexer" because indexing is something I used to do - but no longer. I did several "back of the book" indexes for textbooks that were commercially published, and my biggest job was to index a 30+ year run of a journal devoted to the life and works of Charles Dickens. I had to cover some 6,000 pages of text and the final index was nearly 200 pages long. It was published as a hardback book by the University of Buckingham Press. These days I prefer to write silly stories - although these are self-published and available via Amazon!

It means that you've read a lot of books in your life. That seems to have been a job which developed many skills. Great thing! Do you make good sales on Amazon?

My official name was Yelena Kovadlo but everyone Russian speaking called me Lena. I like the sound of Lena better than Yelena so decided to use that on my social media accounts. Now that I am married I have a different last name but on social media I still use my maiden name. I also use that as my author name: Lena Kovadlo.
