Spring Has Sprung - White Crocus

Despite it being a bit overcast and windy today I just felt the need to get out of the house for five minutes so I gathered up my camera and went for a wander round the garden. The daffodils, primroses and crocuses are now coming out in force but I've noticed that all my white crocuses are well on the way to being in full bloom where as the purple ones don't seem to want to show their heads yet. Not sure if it's something to do with the colour, sun, photosynthesis etc? If anyone knows the answer, please let me know. Having taken a photo of this white crocus I came back indoors and took a look at it and I'm so glad I zoomed in as I#d never noticed that white crocus flowers appear to have a blue vein through their petals. It just goes to show that sometimes you need to take a close up photograph in order to see the true beauty.

Did you try to load the photo? It's not there yet. We've noticed the wildflowers come in colours too although of course the colours overlap too. The yellows are most noticeable first and the blues and purples are among the last to appear.

@olliesmum I can see it now. It is a very beautiful flower and I can clearly see the veins.

@JudyEv The strange thing is that white crocuses have been grown in various gardens from my childhood to now and yet until I took this close up photo I'd never noticed the veins.
