Have you used Stripe?

I have just been doing some research on another website that offers cash prizes for competitions that they run regularly. This did sound appealing until I noticed that to be able to claim any prize money, you have to have an account with a site called Stripe. I had never heard of Stripe and I wondered if anybody here had used it before. Is it very complicated to use ?

I have used it. I had to set it up to get paid from Vocal. Stripe is basically the same as PayPal. It's easy to set up and safe to use. As I only use it for one thing, I couldn't tell you much more about it. All my payments from Vocal have gone to Stripe and I've had no issue with them going to my account. You can set it up to automatically pay into a bank account on a regular basis or you can do it so it's a manual request for payout. There are some fees associated - e.g. currency conversion - but there are no regular or surprise fees.

I noticed that they were asking for bank account details and this is what put me off. There are so many fake companies pretending to be something else and wanting bank account numbers and direct debit details. If you have used Stripe before and not noticed any problems then I will take it that it is a genuine site. Somebody said it is similar to Paypal is this true?

@lazydaizee it is basically the same as PayPal. They ask for bank account details because the money will be paid into your bank account from Stripe. I think they also request it to verify your identity. But yes, I've found it to be perfectly safe and genuine. I think the main issue is that it's not yet as well known as PayPal.

@pumpkinjam It does sound as if it could be a new site, I wonder how long it has been in existence . I know that Paypal has been around for years, lets hope this new site is not too much competition for them.

I have never heard of Medium either, it seems like there are lots of sites out there that are waiting to be discovered.
