Pumpkin's Positive Post: I Am Featured

Me again! I am, as always, ignoring the outside world as much as possible. Still having to come to work in the office as we are part of the 'chain' for social care services, meaning we need to continue operating. On my way home, I had a telephone call from my eldest son (Midi). It was a nice surprise. We hadn't spoken to him since he returned to his university town but he didn't give any explanation. He said he'd been a little unwell but, from his description, seems like it was just a bad cold. He's feeling better now. His university is still open but they are doing all the lessons remotely. Midi is studying to be a maths teacher and was supposed to be on placement soon. As all the schools are closed or closing, that doesn't look likely. There may be some options, though. Youngest son, Mini, is happy about not having to go to school! The boys are lucky that they aren't in their final year (each is in the last but one year of their respective education) so they shouldn't have too much upheaval or postponed/cancelled exams or anything. Midi said he's carrying on as normal as much as he can, and intends to come home for Easter as planned. We also had a call from my mother-in-law to say that my sister-in-law has coronavirus (we don't know if she actually has it or if it's mother-in-law exaggerating). The main reason for my post was that I have more good news. I wrote another article for Vocal (which is quite usual). This one was submitted to a competition. The competition ends at the end of March. My article was not only accepted almost immediately but I also got a cash tip for it, and it's been chosen as a Staff Pick so is on the Vocal homepage. It is currently featured first on the page. I can't share it here, of course, but I can tell you that it's title is Pineapple on Pizza, and it's submitted to a competition titled 'Unpopular Opinions'. I was going to enter something about how Disney is overrated but, as it turns out, that opinion seems quite popular! What's your good news for today? Are you keeping positive? Are you still working or finding other things to keep yourself occupied?

Congratulations. I still haven't gotten started writing on Vocal. I'm staying positive. I miss going out to eat twice a month; but we will go out when the restaurants open up again. Stay safe and healthy.

Thank you. Doing my best to stay safe and healthy but my management team are doing their best to make that difficult! I usually meet up for a meal with friends once a month so I might miss that. Yesterday, I went out for lunch with a colleague. We thought it might be the last time for a while, and it looks like we were right. I'd love to see something from you on Vocal. :)

@LindaOHio I keep a small portfolio so I'll occasionally just pick something out of that if I've not not the time or inclination to write anything specific.

@pumpkinjam I've written over a thousand articles and reviews; but I spend so much time here that by the time I'm done, I don't have any interest in writing more.

Congratulations, this in the photo seems more a pizza on a pineapple than a pineapple on pizza, both options are not appealing to me.

Yes, that's exactly what the photo is. I borrowed it for my article :)

It looked cool. I never know that you can have a pineapple pizza. I always thought that the pizza must have pizza crust.

I admit that this picture is not mine. You can, however, make pizza with all sorts of things. I've had pizza topped chicken, and I'll often add so many toppings to my cheese on toast that it turns into something more like pizza.

Congratulations to you! That's wonderful. I'm a retired educator, so nothing much has changed for me. I am enjoying being home these days and reading and cooking more than I've done in the past.
