Learning About the Body is Fun and Sometimes Yucky!

Meet Scarlett. She is my three year old granddaughter. I have three other granddaughters, ages 7, 3, and 1. (Photo is mine.) I've always loved children of all ages! I worked with kids for years. I know it's quite normal for little ones to be curious about their body parts. They start learning all the amazing/weird things they are capable of! It can be be cute, funny and sometimes gross to witness what kids do. Scarlett recently started making spit bubbles. She thinks it's cool and fun, even though it gets messy. I though it was kind of adorable until she hugged me from behind when I was sitting on the floor. Yep, I felt warm saliva dripping down the back of my neck. I tried not to show my shock and annoyance too much, but I did ask her to STOP DOING THAT! lol Do you have any yucky but humorous stories like this to share?

What do you mean she thinks spit bubbles are cool? Spit bubbles ARE cool.

Ha! Well, when I was three, I probably thought so too. Not now though. Thank you @WorDazza.

I like children too, I used to go to school with them. Of course that was a long time ago. Dickensian times I think they call them. Curdled milk in the summer and frozen in the winter, and whacks off the teachers at any time of year. Halcyon days.

I am not that comfortable around children. I mean, I love them, but after a while, they tire me out. I have a godson, but I rarely see him, because of my work and his father's work. I don't remember any yucky story about him.

@BloggerDi I wonder where they have so much energy. My friend, the father of my godson says, that his son is full of energy, it is almost impossible to keep the pace up with him.

Thanks for sharing your perspective @rappeter13. I think little children can tire anyone out after awhile, even those of us who love children. They require so much energy and patience!

That is adorable and she is a beautiful little girl! I have a ten year old grandson and an 11 year old granddaughter. I have more yucky stories about my grandson that aren’t fit to publish.

I remember when I learned to make spit bubbles. It was lots of fun for that age in my life. Kids are good at finding the fun, yucky things in life and that makes it more fun.

I would rate the experience as somewhere between unpleasant and disgusting. But still funny! Thanks @JudyEv.

Spit bubbles are a part of life. Another one is boogers. I can't count the number of times I've said "Don't eat that giant booger! will get you a tissue."
