It's pretty standard here

The stocking up on things is pretty standard for most in Florida. At least those who are stuck here during hurricane season. Just saying. We prepare in case the wind is too strong to go out in or the flooding is too high. In case power goes etc. So actually we have to buy a lot more things like flash lights and food you don't have to cook etc. I guess it's easier on us then you folks that never have to do that. Before hurricane Irma shelves were empty and for a week after. Heaven help us if we end up with still having the pandemic and a hurricane because people a lot have to go to shelters so if this stays too long it will be worse on us then ever.

@bunnybon7 Yes. Those are worse. At least you know about how fast you will get plowed out again depending on the amount of snow and wind.

We're the same here in Canada, you just never know when you will be snowed in. Its a good way to be, I wasn't unprepared when the rest of the world was out standing in line ups to stock pile, I just looked in my laundry room and smiled at my stash.

cool one thing better about getting snowed in you know it won't be long till you get dug out and you are not likely to just die

I still have things on hand from stocking up for a bad winter (which we didn't have). I'm just happy that we have power and not experiencing that in addition to the virus.

We've had to stock up for storms but only for like 24-48 hours. Not weeks.

We are already seeing a little bit of relief in the stores. I think maybe even the hoarders are now stocked up.

We have to be prepared for earthquakes - but I am sure that many people do not practice earthquake preparedness as much as they should here. We had thought about a double whammy too - what if - but hopefully not !

Most we know have extra of everything just in case. We don't know when there will be a storm and that will be it for days. The shelters would terrible b/c everyone would be so close to each other.

@bunnybon7 Usually if we hear orders to go to a shelter it is a high school. We don't think there will be any huge storms any day soon, so we won't give it too much thought.

I tend to stock up on canned goods for the winter cause sometimes the roads are too nasty for a grocery run. My household has big bags of things like garbanzo beans and brown rice most days of the year. It could be a boring meal but it will feed you.

smart thinking . yes sometimes food is just for having to eat. at least you can spice those things up with different flavorings.
