I was sitting at my desk chair when he came in. He carried in his mouth a white cloth ... one of the dish clothes I had laying on the kitchen counter. I turned to look at Skip. This has happened many times through the years. I know why it happens ... why he takes a hostage every time. He wants a treat ... and he means a treat ... now! He begins to do his soft growl, dance around ... all his familiar little sounds, dances to get attention. He does get attention for sure. I used to jump straight up to grab the dish cloth. I don't now. I take my time, talk to him ... ask him what he wants. He tries to tell me with a dish cloth in his mouth. So, I begin naming things he might want such as ... do you want a pencil? Nothing. Do you want a cellphone? Nothing. Do you ... want ... a-aaaaaaaaa (when I say a-aaaaaa drawing it out ... I have his attention!) .... a-aaaaaa ....... cookie?! Oh my ... the dishcloth drops out of his mouth to the floor ... he stands at attention, waits patiently, trusting me to get him and Camie a ... 'cook-cook'. That's our Kissy Fairchild for you. He is one spoiled Rottie ... he is almost 10 years old. I got up ... got both him and Camie a cookie, then ... bent down to pick up the hostage he had taken, put it in the basket on the washer. Kissy has been 'taking hostages' many years now ... for a cookie, a treat. You should see him become a stalker! I'll write about that later. He has quite a personality
