Time Has Changed On The $100 Bill

I found some interesting things out about the $100 bill. I read that the bill usually circulates for an average of 15 years. (I can't remember the last time I had one in my possession). The same paper mill has produced the paper used for all American money since 1879. Crane & Co. based in Massachusetts started out in business in 1770 as the Liberty Paper Mill. It also produces paper used in passports and fine quality stationery. Interesting to note: Older $100 bills have the Independence Hall in Philadelphia with the time showing on the clock of 4:10 but the newer bills have the Hall on the back as well and show a time of Both images were done by an engraver in the 1920s and no one knows why the differences in time. Has any of you held a $100 bill in their hands lately?

Not for a couple of years in fact I was reminded by facebook today it was four years ago to be precise at Easter time when we visited New York. One thing that no one has ever been able to answer for me. All American Bank notes are the same size. It is only in recent years that some colour has been introduced into some of the notes but generally they have a green hue to them. My question is: How does a blind person identify what the value of notes are as there does not appear to be any physical differences in size or contour of the note.

@garymarsh6 My blind friends have a trusted person fold each denomination of bills a special way. They know by the way it’s folded.

@Tampa_girl7 Thank heavens for their friends. It has always puzzled me but no one could give an answer. All our bank notes are different sizes and colours and are plastic. They do not feel nice in your hands like Paper. And they melt if you accidently iron one in a pocket for example!

@garymarsh6 I’m glad that I had the answer for you. I have Nystagmus and I’m legally blind, but my friends that are totally blind have always amazed me.

That's interesting. It's been years since I held a hundred dollar bill.
