Thank You, Musicians!

Among all the other things that have ground to a halt in the world, musicians have had to postpone or cancel shows. As I've said a number of times before, most musicians in this world aren't Bono or Elton John, who can never sing another note and be set for life.
A lot of them are taking to social media to entertain their fans. In the past week or so I've seen a number of videos, including my man Dale Watson holding a "virtual" chicken (poop) bingo from Hernando's Hideaway in Memphis (you went to PayPal, bought a ticket, and they'd generate a random number for you as to where the chicken would do its business). That was a blast.
Last night I watched John Fogerty doing a few songs from his house. Burton Cummings has been live on Facebook numerous times since this began.
And, I just watched my man Robbie Fulks do a Facebook live concert in lieu of a show he was supposed to be doing in Michigan tonight.
Thank you, musicians for keeping us entertained!
And remember, folks, 99% of the working musicians in this world aren't millionaires, so if you watch 'em and they have a "donate" feature, kick in a dollar or two for them!
The John Fogerty "In My Room" video, including one of my favorite CCR songs ("Long As I Can See the Light"):
John Fogerty performs Creedence Clearwater Revival classics in the latest installment of Rolling Stone’s “In My Room,” a new series in which musicians perfor...

Musicans are really doing it hard at the moment. We watched Keith Urban last night with Nicole poking her head in and out of the picture occasionally. There might be a lot of progress in the way the internet is used by musicians if the virus keeps on too long.

@TheHorse I am still surprised you don't have at least a cheapie computer set up. I paid just a couple hundred bucks for my most recent one, and it works pretty good. I am sure you have TONS of great stuff worth laying down on a few tracks.

This may become a permanent trend as people become conditioned away from live venues. Young people prefer everything online anyway.

And some acts might prefer it because it eliminates the expense of traveling. Robbie is quite shy, so he said he really enjoyed doing it. Others, however, really live for the live performance and audience interaction.
Having said that, this indeed might be the wave of the future.

@FourWalls When I play rock, I like seeing people dance. I also like hearing, "Nice bass, Man." I admit it.

Most of the singers are holding concerts inside their houses now.

I think this is great, and if anyone ever had doubts about the real value of social media, in this day and age, it is probably the best way for any of these guys to get their stuff out there. Not only that, but we get to hear sooo much good stuff that missed getting tossed onto an album, and we get to see these guys in rare form, raw, just them, their music, and their instrument. It's great stuff.

music is a conversation, a gift that we open often. Saying thank you to the musicians is a great idea!

I just said that to a fella the other night! I was showing him some b*ss licks after a gig. He said, "I'll never be able to play like you." I said, "Music is not a competition. It's a conversation." He said, "I like your attitude!" and put a fiver in the tip jar.
Note: Why shouldn't I be able to say "b*ss lick" in MyLot? Heh.

I watched Dale do chicken (poop) bingo yesterday. Everyone who won gave the money back to the band to support them. I gave a little donation on PayPal to help, too. I’m glad a lot of them are finding ways to not only entertain the fans but get monetary help from those fans.

@FourWalls I'm glad people were supportive! Actually, I could use some chicken poop right now as I'm trying to get my garden going.

I am so glad that musicians and other "gig " jobs are included in the new rescue bill, soon to be enacted by Congress and signed by Lord Hair. So many "gig" jobs just disappeared since this virus, (bartenders, servers, etc) , I was wondering how they would survive.

At least technology Is working to give artists a chance to do shows online to make us feel better through their musical talents.
