Hey Google...

I ordered the google home mini on Wednesday and it arrived today, all the way from Texas. I've played a few games with it, as well as asked it inane questions, or just let it play music for me. Later I'll see if it works with my roku like I hope it will. I think it's funny how it delivers jokes or quips as the assistant doesn't have any personality in it's voice. I know at one point I said I wouldn't get one, but here I am with one. The only bad thing is that apparently when I asked the google home mini to play music, a notification shows up on another family members phone too and he's able to stop my music. We've since fixed that (he's muted notifications from that), but yeah... I guess that's convenient for some, but not necessary for me. Do you have a personal assistant speaker?

Yeah, I have Alexa. She is a good source of entertainment and is occassionally practical as well..Although yesterday, I was asking her to read me a recipie and she claimed she couldn't find it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That could well be the reason. No issues here with Alexa though.

@snowy22315 Oh, hmm. I've noticed lately that sometimes my assistant lags. I've wondered if it's the network quality because it's been going down a little bit with so many people home and using the internet.

I said I'd never get one, but I guess that's a lie. I love it. When I'm writing, I can just ask it for alternate words or how to spell something if I'm not quite sure.

@LindaOHio Plus I can play madlibs, which I love playing. Or guessing songs / movies. I haven't done the movie quiz, but I've played song quiz several times.

@simone10 I bet it does, or does something similar anyway. I made a call on mine yesterday. My aunt has the nickname of ducie, and you can imagine what the voice assistant thought I said...

@ScribbledAdNauseum that's too funny! We have laughed at Alexa so many times because my brother doesn't always speak clearly and some of the things she thinks he says.

Oh, it's loads of fun. You can play games like madlibs and song quiz with it too. You can tell it to sing a song, and yeah, you can ask it all manner of silly questions. It has a funny answer to "how much wood would a woodchuck chuck" but I can't recall what that answer is.. .Actually, I might try seeing what it says if I ask it what 0 divided by 0 is, siri had a snarky answer.

I like to have something like that. It is an interesting and helpful device. I have an Echo Dot 2 and I like it a lot. Besides, I have another personal assistant speaker called Tmall Spirit which is made in China. At first I bought it for my dad as he can speak in Chinese to Tmall Spirit but Echo Dot 2 only accpets English.
