Himalayan Pink Salt!

I thought I would let you into a little secret I discovered yesterday when cooking dinner. I picked up a salt mill from the cupboard to find that it contained pink salt from the Himalayas which according to the writing on the label says that the salt is millions of years old and it is mined and brought to you to transform and enhance your cooking. Now for the ironic bit! Oh the irony of it! The labelling on the Salt mill gives a use by date of June 2021. WHAT? Surely a couple of more years won’t make any difference at all? There is a trend to reduce our salt intake however it is an essential part of our diet and our bodies need it to function properly. If you have high blood pressure then you should reduce the amount you use. My wife used to over use salt when cooking and I always complained but now she rarely uses it which drives me bonkers because salt makes food taste so much better and without it, it is tasteless. The photo is of me floating in the Dead Sea. It is true that you float in the thick waters of the Dead Sea but you are asked not to shave for three days (including ladies) if you go into the water as it will sting like mad. Also we were told to avoid getting it in our eyes and mouth! The interesting thing about the Dead Sea it is at the lowest point on earth despite it being sunny and hot you do not get sunburn due to the fact that the harmful rays do not get down that far! Isn’t salt amazing!

We have used this Pink salt but very rarely. I like to have low salt in everything, but if we get outside food, we cannot control what goes in it. As of now, outside food is a no-no for us!

I have not added salt to anything I have eaten since 1967--and I still have high blood pressure! Well, I didn't ADD salt to the bacon, potato chips, bottled and canned items, etc.
