Cancel, Cancel, Cancel

I imagine that a LOT of otherwise events and things planned, due to Coronavirus, are being cancelled. Of course, I already mentioned that for work all of my travel is on hold until further notice. We had a wedding to go to for my cousin in early May. That has been postponed. My wife and I were going to Memphis for our anniversary in mid-May. We were going to stay at the Tunica and do some gambling. I have not cancelled the trip and the reservations yet... But I am going to. It is just simply too uncertain at this point. I don't see things getting back to any level of normal quite THAT soon. So we will just find something else to do. Still taking the time off we took. We'll just be at home instead. Any plans you made that you have reconsidered due to this whole Coronavirus thing?

I guess the biggest plan was our cruise to the Bahamas in April. I really can't believe the people who are really hoping their cruises won't be cancelled. We've been to Tunica many times over the years (my husband's from Arkansas.) Hope y'all get to go in the future.

@porwest Are these people completely in the dark about this plague? I bet those passengers on those ships that can't get off and are dying won't be too excited about their next cruise.

@1creekgirl No. They won't. It's so weird to me right now how much about how we think about things has changed. I KNOW it is not permanent. But it is still weird.

Yeah. We were there a couple of years ago and stopped into the casinos. We'll get there again. Maybe we will see if we can sneak something in in August or so. Who knows? As for the cruise...I would DEFINITELY be cancelling that. Not sure why people would want to be in close quarters on a ship right now.

My brother and I were thinking about going to the beach sometime this summer. It was just talk, no definite plans.

@porwest I am hoping that as well. We just don't know at this point how long all of this will last.

Well, hopefully by the time summer gets well underway we might be at least SOMEWHAT past this. Not 100%. But on our way to being past it to some extent. Let's hope. I am hoping that by June I will feel comfortable getting back to work travel.

At work, we had already cancelled all of our programs and events through April, but today we made the decision to cancel everything through May as well. And, as I've said since the beginning, this thing will probably still be around in June as well, so we might have to cancel all of June's activities.

@JudyEv And through it all I am thankful for my health, for my family, and for life in general. This thing has really put a lot of things in it's proper perspective. We've all been forced to stop and smell the roses, per se.

Hopefully by the end of June we might be seeing a glimmer of light. It's a pretty long tunnel at the moment.

I'm still thinking of visiting a friend in Santa Barbara. But I think we're going to wait. Same with my friend up in Paradise CA. I had one gig cancelled that would have made me a whopping $50 or so. That's about it.

@porwest Yeah, it was great to take a short hike at Inspiration Point the other day. I didn't see anyone topple over and die after passing us. Today I took a short cycle with Horse Jr., but only around the complex.

I am just ready to take a drive in the country over the weekend. Don't care if I really go anywhere. Just want to get out the house a bit and do SOMETHING.

Lots of medical appointments being done over the phone now, instead of in the office.

@porwest A lot of things are being cancelled or postponed because we do not know when it will end. I hope you will be able to go on your trip for your Anniversary. I had a doctor appointment and it was cancelled and not sure when I can reschedule.

@porwest If it's your family and everyone is not sick I don't see what the difference is lol....but they say no more than 10 people and our get together would be more than that! But yes it sadly is wait and see....UGH

Sorry to hear that, I guess it's like that all over the place. Frustrating times, certainly. Yeah, I have had to cancel plans, definitely. The main ones that I can think of are concerts, usually go to a handful, or so, of them a year, Besides that, just am not visiting family, other than my parents, because of people choosing to self-quarantine, etc.

I was going to celebrate my birthday on June 8th. 75 years old. I wanted to have around 30 or so people at home. It is impossible now. From what I have heard, I will have to be alone probably until July. If.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of plans we need to cancel thanks to this darn plague. 1. The company summer outing 2. The Lenten celebrations 3. My martial arts tournaments and training 4. Lots and lots of company meetings outside of the office 5. The weekly Friday night life 6. Birthday celebrations And probably, there are lots more I forgot to list. And we won't be getting them back for a long time.

Yes I agree. Anything involving entertainment and hospitality will be the last to reopen. Being from the shore area which relies heavily on tourism I am hoping things improve by summer.
