I've been trying to limit our watching the nightly news because it's been depressing my husband with all the Corona Virus information. Thursday night I turned it over to the 6 o'clock report and there actually was some "GOOD" news on for a change. I don't know if anyone else shared it or if it was just local but I had to pass it on... The stores are allowing the people who panic bought and over stocked items to return them with the proper store receipt. No returns will be allowed without the receipt. Items that will not be allowed to be returned even with the proper receipt are toilet paper and paper towels. This was due to people figuring on profiteering on other's misfortune and due to the fact that stores are able to restock the toilet paper. Needless to say I gave a giant whoop and a hoorah for the stores and their stance on people profiteering on others inability to get to the stores in a timely manner.

I still love the people that had bought 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer and were putting them up on Ebay for bids. The people who were trying to "profiteer" from their enormous purchase were tracked down by both Ebay and the police and were arrested on profiteering charges. They were given the option of either facing felony charges or "donating" the sanitizers to the emergency services groups. They chose the latter since it didn't involve doing prison time. Ebay is also standing firm on the profiteering when it comes to the toilet paper and paper towels too. I have a LOT of admiration for them. It's interesting to me how my opinions of a store can be so easily changed. My prescriptions are filled through CVS Pharmacies, and after dealing with one rude clerk on the telephone I want nothing to do with them. I called and asked about my prescription and with the isolation order for the state of California I couldn't go into the store to pick it up. When I asked how I was supposed to get it I was told "I don't know, it isn't MY problem, good bye" and she hung up. I complained to the CEO and spoke to the district general manager the next day. I still don't want to go into the store. Anyhow, from what I gather (I'm still not going into the stores, my daughter in law is doing our shopping) things are starting to show up on the shelves again...slowly but they are returning to the shelves. My husband's grandson's wife has a recipe for sanitizer. It's 4 cap fulls of bleach to 3 and a half cups water. You can use this in a spray bottle for around the house, on the bottoms of your shoes and on your hands etc. I wouldn't recommend it for your clothing though...unless it's older clothing that you don't mind white bleach spots on. Take care and stay well Bear hugs

I wouldn't be too quick to return goods as the restrictions could be in place for a long time yet.

The United States is catching up with the frenzied buying of toilet paper, paper towels and Kleenex. It's reappearing on the shelves and the publicity that resulted from the greedy buying of the paper goods brought about the decision to restrict the returns of the paper goods. Also when you see that even the younger generations got into the act of profiteering by offering sanitizers on Ebay to the highest bidders...and possibly putting lives in danger by buying up all the sanitizers they could find...it fills you with justified anger. In their minds it was "To hell with people's lives, money is more important!!!"It was so satisfying to see them wind up with having to donate their sanitizers to charity rather than sell them for horrific profits. Yes, the restrictions could be in place for a long time yet, but if we all use our heads for something other than to hold our hair on...or for those that don't have hair...use it for reflecting light in emergencies....we will all make it through the siege.

Great that they can not return the paper products. They can store them and have plenty for some time
