Time for a cull.

Last night I had to come off mylot after reading some ridiculous selfish posts from people who should know better. Clearly they believe the current emergency does not apply to them. When governments are telling you to stay isolated and to maintain social distancing I read people are going out to buy such things as coca cola. As if that is vital for your survival. You should be shopping for what you need not what you want. Need and want are completely different things. Please people this is absolutely utter foolish behaviour when there are already thousands in your community who have tested positive and hundreds are dying every day. Not only are they at risk of developing this horrible illness what is worse their stupidity could be spread further throughout their community and to their supposed loved ones. The second thing that annoyed me was people complaining that they were bored. Well stop being so selfish living in your lovely comfortable houses with running water, electricity television and internet at your disposal. You will have food in your cupboard so you are not going to starve. There are many who envy such opulence and comfort but live in impoverished conditions you would know very little about. Stop being so insular and think about those less fortunate than you! I decided last night that I am going to unfollow some people as I do not need to read their rubbish posts. Yes it is unusual times right now and very hard on people but have some consideration for those you risk putting in danger or killing by your selfish feeling of entitlement. I am only going to read positive posts from now on. Those who irritated me yesterday will find that I will no longer be following them and I am quite happy for them to unfollow me too as you are not the type of person I wish to associate with.

To be honest Gary, I had to stop reading today because I was disgusted. People who want to go out, those who need to meet friends, those who cannot live if they do not eat out. Do they realize that this is a matter of survive? I wonder what will they do after the emergency is over, when we will all realize how bad our new economy will be. Our life will never be the same. May be that hunting for food will make them less bored.

@garymarsh6 This is what I hope. Those who are to dumb to respect the rules could be contaminated and die, their friends may be (very may be) will understand that life is more important than going around partying and doing silly things.

@LadyDuck but the sad thing is they are likely to infect others around them because of their moronic behaviour!

I know Anna. When we come out of this in a few months time it is going to be a very different world to what we once knew. Hopefully people will be a little bit more considerate to others. They will certainly have enough time to reflect on themselves but to be honest I think they are so absorbed by their own greed they do not have the ability to see they have done anything wrong!

I agree with you ! Some people are deliberately unconventional at the moment ! Here we were told that staying at home was a contribution to society and our country ,during the enclosed management. This was how we kept the covid-19 in check.

It is the best advice at the moment. Stay home. What do people not understand about that. It is a simple instruction!

I completely understand. This virus is nothing to fool with and we need to change our ways-all of us. I come on to this site to enjoy and relax, reading about covid is obviously going to happen, but I tend to gravitate towards topics which are far from that and will allow me a laugh or a thought to get away from the changes that I am living thru.

@garymarsh6 Or worst yet......toasting them with a splash of that in a glass. What I wouldn't give to read one of Janet's hilarious limericks-now that IS entertainment at its finest here. Something to break the tension and allow you to look at something, anything from a different perspective.

I could complain, but I learned a long time ago, complaining isn't worth it and you lose friends. I also learned early in life that being positive made me happy and those around me. I look for things to make me happy and I pay attention to all the blessings God gives me every day. Thank you for being a friend.

You only have to watch the clips from India and such countries to realise how lucky most of us are. There is no way I'll be complaining.

Which I have been doing and am appalled not only India but other places too. Italy and Spain that are particularly badly affected. There is no comparison to our standard of living and theirs. They must think we are multimillionaires in comparison.

I, too, am tired of posts of people complaining that they are bored. Would they rather be "not bored" by being the front workers who are risking their lives to help others. Those do not have time to be bored.

You are right Marlina. Yesterday I came off the phone after talking to my friend in New York. She is permanently living at the hospital because of this. Can not go home to her kids for fear of infecting them. She was in tears about what she has witnessed! Perhaps these morons would like to have a chat with her!

People are being selfish and greedy. Everything is always about them and they don't think of others. It's ridiculous and frustrating. Things are going to change after this and I'm a little bit scared of what that will entail.

Very well stated! I wasn’t on very much yesterday, but I have seen some of those ridiculous posts. The ones that say they are bored never had a brain in their heads before the virus. I’m proud to say that I’ve never been bored a day in my life.

After speaking to a doctor friend in New York yesterday she was in tears as she is living in the hospital for fear of taking it home to her kids. She has not seen them for two weeks. It just irritated the life out of me these people who think they are entitled and any rules about staying at home did not apply to them! Incredulous!

@garymarsh6 I agree! Our son’s neighbor is a doctor and has been living in the resident’s wing in his hospital. You should see the revelations on our little beach! At least most of them are keeping physical distancing.

I think people write about being bored because they can't think of anything else to write about. Not making excuses for them just realizing that some people just can't think of anything else to write about.
