Was Vanny actually right?

Our beloved Vanny (@Vandana7) is known for her odd tastes in music, odd tastes in pictures, and odd tastes in lyrics for effective love songs. However, she was right about one thing: She pointed out to me, long ago, that one of my pillow cases, in a photo of a guitar, was ever so slightly sullied, perhaps because it was Summer. I had already given my sheets and pillow cases their yearly laundering, and was surprised to find that a soaking in my miracle cleaning solution revealed that there was indeed some dirt in my pillow cases. More recently, I noticed that the sleeves on one of the sweatshirts I wear when working with kids was ever so slightly dirty. I decided to honor her by soaking said sweatshirt in my miracle solution before laundering it. The color of the water after the first soak was not conclusive: it reminded me of a delicate tea I had once enjoyed, but one could argue that there may have been a bit of dirt in there as well. So, in this post, I begrudgingly thank Vanny for pointing out that dirt can occasionally gather in pillow cases and sweatshirts, even if you wash them religiously every year. I encourage praise for Vanny and visits to all of her posts. Do you have a secret soaking solution that you sometimes use on some pieces of laundry before you wash them?

Vanny deserves your praise. She only has your best interests at heat. I’m getting ill looking at your photo.

Dianne, I have sent you some socks and underwear. I can guarantee that none were worn for more than two months in a row without being laundered. I will handle the sweatshirts myself. I will pay return shipping. Just let me know what your laundering secrets are before you return them to me.

@TheHorse OxiClean and Tide is my secret weapon. For stains, I use blue Dawn and a bit of white vinegar. This way, you can save your postage and handling now that my secret is out. Btw, I will be sending your box back by “return to sender” as soon as it arrives.

@DianneN It sounds like our "secret weapons" are not that different. No need to use "return to sender." As previously mentoned, I secrete only ambrosia and nectar.

Good grief look at the colour of that water. Do you roll around in the mud? I doubt you have many visitors if you only wash your sheets once a year! Vanny is going to go right off the deep end you do understand ! @Vandana7 you had better come and sort your friend!

@garymarsh6 If only I were not scared of sharks, and now social distancing need due to Corona virus, I would shoot nice video of having spanked Pony and upload it on YouTube till he said ..I agree I will wash sheets once a week..and never sleep on them with shoes and socks on.

@TheHorse So it appears! Vanny will be most disgusted. She will fly over as soon as flights start to give you a jolly good hose down with a jet pump!

Good on @Vandana7 to point this out to you! As it is being said these days, an enemy can be one that can't be seen . . . good to clean stuff up especially if it hasn't been in a long time. I just throw in some baking soda with each load!

@TheHorse It works, and I do use soda. There is some psychologically clean feeling when I use soda. It sure takes stink away like vinegar does.

@TheHorse Hmmm. I heard it loses potency in time . . . 6 months for an open package? But it's supposedly edible . So if you were going to throw it away, might as well try it in the laundry - nothing to lose, right?

Baking Soda? Would the box I've had in my refrigerator for two years work?

If you only wash these things once a year, I'm surprised the water wasn't mud! Thank goodness Vanny takes an interest in your welfare.

Well, I may exaggerate just a tiny bit. But...I mean...why wash my sheets if if I'm just going to sleep in them again anyway? As for underpants, I can just turn them inside out after a month or two.

I wish I did have some magic soaking solution. The ever-praised OxyClean leaves much to be desired.

@TheHorse Did it work on your headlights? Mike and I have tried several different things we came across on you tube videos to get the dull hazy off but nothing has helped to this point.

@Dena91 Give it a try and see what happens. I use the stuff that comes in a spray bottle from the Dollar Tree. It really did clear things up. Be sure to use a Very Clean Cloth to wipe it off.

Very nice, pony! Do you remember when it was the "style" to purchase jeans that had dirt ground into them? I didn't know that was the style, so when I saw how dirty the jeans Pretty wore to my house from her mom's were I washed them, then worked on them with Oxyclean and Palmolive dish soap and washed them again. The stains came right out! When Pretty saw her jeans, she started laughing and told me I was the only person who could get a stain out of anything! ( I was a bit embarrassed when she told me the dirt stains were supposed to be there. *shake my head*) Then she told me her mom had just bought them for her...

He is not from Planet earth, so his yearly is not = to earthly year. Nevertheless, it is not equal to 1 week of planet earth either.

Hmm. I am not sure. I have a magic fairy. My clothes go into a basket and somehow wind up folded in my drawer. Still researching this phenomenon.

Good that Vanny suggested you and you took it seriously. Your pillow case and sweatshirt will be thankful to Vanny. They must have been suffocating in their own dirt. Yearly wash of pillow case....How do you survive??

I am surprised he has any friends remaining in real life. LOL. I always wondered if letting a friend know that his clothes are dirty is being a good friend or liking a friend despite that would be good. I feel telling is good because it saves the friend from being humiliated by others or being ridiculed by others or people speaking behind the back. But that does not mean that other friend is not a good person. It is just he or she is afraid to hurt the friend. We can be so wrong in judging folks.

@arunima25 Oh but people do differ in how they perceive it. Sometimes humor helps, but not always. The other day, I took serious objections to somebody who said he would feed my dad to sharks. I cannot take that as a joke. For him it was. I am still in shock over it. I want my father to live LONGGGGGGGG. That way, I would be really safe. Honestly, I don't know how people can wish another person who has not harmed them in any way something like that. But then, I do say something like that to Pony...beat him, shoot him, and such thing. I don't know why that thing about dad did not go down well with me. I am a complex person. Do I have double standards? You bet.
