1808 - John Jacob Astor incorporated the American Fur Company which eventually made him the first millionaire in America.
1869 - Celluloid is patented.
1947 - The first Tony Awards are presented for theatrical achievement.
1952 - Marilu Henner was born. She is an American actress, producer, radio host, podcaster and author. Her breakthrough role was playing Elaine O'Connor Nardo in the TV sitcom Taxi from 1977-1983. She received 5 Golden Globe nominations for that role. Some of her movies: Cannonball Run II, Johnny Dangerously, Rustlers' Rhapsody, L. A. Story and Noises Off.
2016 - Merle Haggard passed away. He was born in 1937 and was an American country singer, songwriter, guitarist and fiddler. Some of his songs: The Legend of Bonnie and Clyde, Hungry Eyes, Okie from Muskogee, Bar Room Buddies (with Clint Eastwood), Pancho and Lefty (with Willie Nelson), That's the Way Love Goes and Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star.

I have been to Haggard's childhood home in a museum complex at Bakersfield.
