Underground tunnel

So our area where we live in Virginia has a few underground tunnels. They typically are in places where a cross walk can’t be placed so people can go under and through the tunnels to get from one side of the road to the other safely. The kids get a kick out of it because it’s not often that we use the tunnel. The tunnel didn’t creep them out they thought it was fun. Me on the other hand I’m creeped out by them. The good thing is we didn’t run into many people on our walk.

I believe it is still dangerous because it is a closed area.

@yoalldudes walking I tunnels are not dangerous unless it isn’t made right. This one is made the correct way and has been standing since my husband was a little boy.

Those tunnels definitely serve a purpose to help people get safely across a busy road or something similar, but how can they ensure safety at night when a person has to go through one alone? Seems to me like a good place to commit various different types of crimes. Unless they all have cameras in them.

Never been a crime there. It has safety lights through and on both sides of the tunnel. Also nobody uses them at night unless they are walking a dog. I’ve only walked on them on night time with another another person. Most people do that. Kids us them in the day time and most are right next to a school and right now our area is heavily patrolled

Some places in the US have them and others don’t. Ours has a lot of them for the school areas so kids cross the road where there is no traffic light

Why do you think it’s not safe? It’s the day time and kids us this short tunnel all of the time to get to school. Not my kids because we live on the same side of the road as there school. But if they where waking to get to there grandmother’s or Mamaw’s house they would have to use it because the nearest cross walk is a 1 mile away and this tunnel is right next to there school and is designed for this reason for safe passage. This tunnel has been here since my husband as a small boy.
