I forgot to update you on my dad....

Basically he decided to retire from his job as it was a job that required him to be on his feet for a majority of the day. So he decided that it was time to stop that job as he really doesn't want anymore issues with his foot. (for those who don't understand what that means, I will explain if needed and for those who know very well what I'm saying, just thought I would give you the update). He finished work on Friday I believe it was. He is still applying for jobs as he doesn't want to do nothing. Plus, he would still like some income coming in. My dad has had a lot of people at his job as well as people outside of his job giving him their best wishes and saying he will be missed. (my dad was a sales rep. So he was taking orders / delivering orders to petrol stations. That's what I mean by people outside of his job missing him etc too). Other than that, his foot is doing good. And I really hope that's the last of all that! There are still some issues from time to time where his sugar drops quite low and we need to get him to quickly eat something. I hate when that happens but thankful he gets a good warning for when that starts to happen. Still stressful but best we can do is make sure we handle that quick as possible so he doesn't pass out....or worse. Thank you for reading the update on my dad.

I can definitely recommend retirement. Don't know how I found time to go to work. Hopefully he will find something to keep him busy and bring in a bit of money too.

@VivaLaDani13 Good so far but this lockdown thing has kind of put the brakes on things somewhat. Day to day it hasn't really changed our lives that much but it stops us jumping in the car and heading to the coast on a nice day. No stopping off for an impromptu long boozy lunch when out with the dog. And it's meant that our planned house renovations, which should have started end of March and been completed end of May, haven't been started yet. And we have no idea when they will start!! Could be a lot worse though!!

@WorDazza aw yes of course! I'm so sorry! That lockdown surely would made it harder to go out and have fun. I do hope for everyone's sake that this virus will cease soon as possible.

I wanted to ask and I am glad you updated us. I am so glad to know that your dad is fine now. It is a good idea to retire, it's too hard for him to stay on his feet all the day. Take care of both of you Dani.

My brother is a diabetic so I totally understand your concerns. It's very scary when their blood sugar drops. I had to call an ambulance once because his dropped so low.

@VivaLaDani13 It was very scary. He had let me know he wasn't well before he went out of it. The EMTs gave him something to eat out of a tube. Within minutes he was coherent again. He had taken his medication that morning and had not had anything to eat all day. I was so upset with him.

@simone10 Oh I would have been too! I honestly don't blame you for being upset with him. It annoys me when people are aware of an illness they have / disease they have but don't look after it. I'm so glad he was looked after and back to his normal self after. I hope he doesn't go all day again without eating!

I am glad he had some resolution on what he is going to do about his job. He had some scary health issues. It speaks so well of him that so many people will miss him.

Glad to hear that he is doing fine. Maybe keeping some candy would come in handy in case he gets hypoglycemia.

@louievill Yeah we have jelly beans that are for when sugar drops low. If not that then just anything else that will help fix it like honey on toast for example.

@hereandthere I'm not too sure to be honest. He did speak about "Night fill" but not sure if that is the number one job he is looking for. He is kinda just looking at the moment for now.
