I Hope it's true...

I did not hear the full details of that particular segment of news on TV because I received some call. But, I have heard it partially from someone who has a cabinet post of the government that aside from the extension of payment given to us with our electric due, power companies are urged to do not charge the March to April consumption. It would be great as most of the people at this time have no income of the said months.

Over here we have a scheme called furlough which is paid for by the government which I am on at the moment. To keep people getting some money and for businesses not to shut the gov is paying 80% of our wages up to 2500 per month. Better than nothing but I barely manage on what I earn so am hoping for some discount on utilities and council tax.

Good for all of you there. We're expecting that to happen since it's difficult this time around. We will be happy if power companies can at least give 50% discount or whatever they can offer. The last billing I received I think was overcharged since they only use averaging method to calculate the bill for the month because they no longer deploy their meter readers personnel since the lockdown took effect. It's unfair because there's a considerable difference when I read the meter and compute our previous reading.

@ZedSmart we have smart meters here that automatically send readings but I don't have one so give my meter readings for gas and electric every month by email. I once built up considerable credit and it almost made 6 months free so possibly it'll be hard for you in the short term but you may get a decent amount refunded when they read the meter again. I suppose you could just not pay...here you could not pay for a while before they cut you off and if you don't pay your water bill I don't think they are allowed to shut off your water.

@Mike197602 Water is government run here so it's not of so much burden because we only pay minimal amount especially on household consumption. We can postpone payment as long as it's not a big amount.

Hopefully. I'll be happy even if half discounted.

I really do hope it's true as millions of Filipino people don't have income right now.

That would be a big help since most of us are not earning these periods.
