An update on the display case

We’re making progress with the coin case. You can see it here but it’s not finished yet. I’ve opened the sliding lid a bit. The inside isn’t finished yet. The outside edges will be rounded off and the whole thing sanded and varnished eventually. The machine it is sitting on is a router, another thing that makes life easy if you’re working with wood. The router gouged out the groove for the lid and will be used to round off the edges of the box. Watch this space for the next instalment.

@JohnRoberts @jobelbojel This is the prototype. We're working on a better way to do the lid as it needs a 'brake' to stop the lid going straight through. We think we've sorted it now.

Well, actually he has started another one. He has decided he wants six coins, not five.

Did Vince come up with the design for the display case himself, or is he following plans he found online somewhere?

No, he's just made it up. Lined up the coins as he wanted them, needs x cm either end, y cm on the sides and came up with a figure.

@JudyEv You're welcome. Will the rest of them be larger?

@just4him I guess it will depend how many coins he wants in a particular box. He changed his mind from five coins to six which is why he started on a new one.

Wooden boxes are really nice. I always loved to work with the wood. May be it is in my genes, the father of my father was a carpenter.

@JudyEv I do not like working with motors, but everything creating with wood, painting, colours or crafting, I like.

I love the smell of the wood. I like making things with steel tubing or whatever but I can't enthused about working with motors.

I have got a similar box I think, with smilar width but half that length. Got it as a gift from someone who returned from China... My box is very narrow however re: from bottom to ceiling. (The material is of plywood I think, not solid like yours.)

@JudyEv can't remember where it is now (the box), but I think I put a few odd earrings there.
