Where we should have been this weekend

This weekend, we were supposed to be attending the Fairbridge Music Festival in Western Australia but, of course, like so many other events, it was cancelled. We would have arrived there with our caravan on Thursday afternoon and would have set up camp with our friends who also have a caravan. Our single friend would have arrived on Friday and there would have been some groups playing on Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday would have full-on attending different in any of about five different venues. The bands and soloists would have come from all around the world. Relaxing late at night back at the camp-site with a few wines and nibbles was all part of the fun. So there is no festival this year but shortly the raffle prizes will be drawn. A luthier from Margaret River has donated a hand-made guitar every year for 25 years. The raffle is continuing this year although the festival isn’t. I wonder if we’ll be the lucky ones. Photo from a previous Fairbridge.

I am so sorry the Festival had to be cancelled, but at least the raffle prizes are still drawn. We will have other Festivals in the future, I am sure.

@JudyEv It is surely very bad for their finance, but it is right that it can grow year by year.

They will take a huge financial hit but the raffle brought in $A17,000 which isn't to be sneezed at. They might have to go back to something much smaller next year but that's okay too. It can grow year by year just as it did before.

@LadyDuck It started off small so there is no reason why it can't go back to 'small'.

Aaww - you are missing out big time, aren't you? 2020 might be seen as 'the year that never was'.

@paigea I'd hate to be locked down anywhere other than at home. I have plenty of things to do here.

@JudyEv I know. I am just glad we were home when every thing shut down. We were just getting ready to head to Whistler to ski at that time. Might as well be grateful.

Well expect this new normal to linger on for quite sometime. We have to stay close our homes while it still is finding it’s next victim. Until I see no vaccine available around we need to stay home for sometime and avoid socializing.

@JudyEv I am almost a month feeling imprisoned in my own home. It’s harder to find busy with things around since it’s all the same routine every day and if there’s no more things to do I just sleep to kill the boredom.

@rsa101 Maybe you should start learning a new language on Duolingo. That might be fun.

We don't play the guitar but they are always a beautiful instrument. To be really truthful, we'd probably rather we didn't win it.

I'm sure we're all missing out on lots of fun events. I didn't mean to sound as though I was moaning about it. I think I'd rather see adults than a 3-year-old too. Vince would take over the 3-year-old for sure.

This is the year of no festivals, I think though we will appreciate them more when they start again. I have tickets to see Sarah Brightman in September and I have waited years for the opportunity and now I wonder if it will happen.

Your numbers are doing well though, aren't they, so I'm sure it's worth the inconvenience if it stops the virus spreading. Our numbers are looking good too. I don't think anyone really knows which way they should go to stop opening things up again. And if they happen to get it wrong, the public will want to crucify them.
