HOW can you explain TRUE LOVE?

Before I close my curtain today, can I ask some help from myLotters here? If you are willing to show your love, I will appreciate it. I have a 13-year-old boy student online and we were discussing the classic Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. I must admit it's not my cup of tea about 'true love.' Student: Teacher, why I cannot find true love? Me: #@% Student: How can we find true love?" Me: You are too young to find true love. Student: Why? Me: You can still find true love in eating food, doing things you like the most, etc. Student: @#%? I am really out of mind thinking about how to answer this question. It's really not my thing to be asked like this. One thing for sure, it has been a long time that I had a serious relationship with someone. I am a bit rusty with this matter. When you find someone that you`re comfortable with almost everything and feel that you can`t live without that person without knowing the real reason. Then, that`s true love. Love can`t be found quickly it`s developed through the years the other persons being with you. The more you know the person better the more you love him or her better

It seems like a deja vu for me, I wish I could tell him this. I am also a bit apprehended since his parents are listening to our discussion. I tried to be in a safe mode.

I do agree with you. I just managed to tell him that it is too early to know at his age.

I think your student has seen or read something about true love and now wants to experience it but true love will happen on it's own and cannot be forced, he will know when it happens.

I was also surprised that he read Romeo and Juliet and the tragic end of the story. He has an idea of how these loved each other until the end. He cried when he also read Les Miserables.

I personally do not think those tragedies are appropriate reading for young people @Shavkat I read Romeo and Juliet in High School but it did not interest me and when a teacher forced my class to read Les Miserables I did not like that one at all. Sometimes literature is not good for the minds of the very young.

@rebelann I honestly not into this kind of reading material. I didn't even read them. I just cannot pull myself to read any single words of love storybooks. It is killing me to imagine how love or affection in a story was inserted. I prefer with a twist of comedy. According to this Chinese kid, they read them during their primary school.

I'd be saying "Let's got on with the lesson, shall we?"

If you can only see me, I tried to divert his attention. He is really so persistent. I just keep on laughing and smile at him. It was like reminiscing my years of being in love before.

@JudyEv Of course, it is a part of looking back on the things happened in the past. It makes me younger at heart.

True love, you ask, that is a very loaded question. An easy answer would be true love is the connection of two people that cannot be shaken by the outside world, such as the play Romeo and Juliet. But, true love takes many forms. Perhaps true love is best shared in the Movie "The princess bride" where love isn't bound to stations in life, but to the connection created between two people.

I think that it is a good movie. I will try to share it with this young boy. I am not that good at it. But it seems I need to try explaining about true love more for the next class with him.

@Shavkat i would say the easy answer is true love - when two people often think as one.

I think true love is simple - we feel it and it is hard to explain.

The affection of being in love with some is indescribable feeling. It will influence all the senses of our lives.

I think it's true love if you love the person completely even if she or he has imperfections

I agree. Couples need to love the similarities and differences.

That's a hard question to answer. But maybe if I will answer that question, I will say that he or she needs to wait because true love is patient.

I caught off guard this student of mine this time. I am quite hesitant to. Why? What if the parents are there and listening to our conversation. I played safe by telling him that it will come if he grows older.

I really need to be straightforward with this young boy. In reality, he doesn't need to think about it.
