Sunday morning and a nice looking day outside. The sun is shining and the temperature is at 55 F (12.7 C) at 11 am. Looks like it might be a really nice day out there. I just might have to take a walk around the neighborhood. I just read this article about the stimulus checks we got here in the USA. The title of the article, "How the coronavirus stimulus check could impact your 2020 taxes" The main thing they start talking about is if the money will need to be paid back or if it will be taxed. Eight paragraphs later they wrap up the article with this. "The answer is probably going to be no,”. Umm what? Did he just say PROBABLY no. Well, thanks for that clear and concise answer there. I will still hang on to it till we know for sure. Hope you all enjoy your day/night, be safe out there and take care of each other.

It is highly unlikely people would be made to pay the stimulus money back. It has never happened before.

@Bensen32 They wouldn't get it back. It would be a fruitless endeavor.

All bets are off. We all have learned by now that rules of the past and how it used to be is over. It's a whole new game plan now. Logic says the money won't be taxed but who knows now. Nancy Pelosi may need some of that money back so she can give herself a pay raise to buy more of her fancy ice cream that she flaunted in insulting disgusting manner. Never put anything past government.

Yikes, that could make it really tough for low income families should they decide it needs to be declared next April.

exactly my thought. there are a lot of people who live paycheck to paycheck and having to come up with even a few hundred dollars to pay taxes you didn't know you were going to need to pay would be quite difficult on them.

@rebelann Yea, some people are in worse situations than others and it's going to be harder on others but hopefully they will want the the money back or the government wont put people in a worse position.

It's raining here and so will not be going out at all, not even on the balcony. It's another day inside but there is so much to read and so much to watch.

The federal government has already said the money would not be taxed, and would not need to be paid back. But it does add to our deficit, and THAT will eventually need to be paid back...by future generations. Yep, we're leaving quite a mess for our children to deal with.

I know that they had said it would not be taxed or need to be paid back but then again. I heard from the government once that I could keep my doctor. I was told there is this thing called the"Affordable" healthcare which is not affordable. Income tax that was a temporary thing to support the Civil War than in 1913 they changed the laws to make it a permanent thing. In Illinois, they put in toll booths and charge you money to drive on the tollways but don't worry its just temporary till the roads are paid for and construction is done. That was in the 60's so 60 years later I guess they are not done building them. I could go on and on about their lies.

I'm sure we won't be asked to pay ours back. There would be massive uproar if that happened.

I saw that same article. The last stimulus check under Bush came with a letter explicitly stating it would not be taxed. It would be just like the government to take back later and screw people even more than they have now. IRS may not tax it but state level can and I bet they will.

Yea, this time money just showed up in my account. no letter, no proof of what it was for just money in my account. Doesn't the bank have some kind of rule about not spending money that accidentally gets in your account? I mean if money just shows up in my account and it really is not mine I can just spend it and get away with it.
