It's finished

The photo shows the coin case that has been occupying our time lately. Vince, my husband, has made it out of pine boards from a pallet. The raised piece on the left enables the lid to be slid open easily. Inside are six little indentations that hold the coins. He might get this one advertised today. If there is any interest, he may make another and perhaps then do one in jarrah which is a rich, red wood. It’s good to see this idea actually come to something. We put of making it for ages as we couldn’t find any hinges or fastenings small enough for what we wanted. The sliding lid solved the problem.

That would be a wonderful gift for someone who collects coins. Even if you fill it with some of the newly released coins for a particular year, it would be a nice graduation or gift for a baby's birth. A keepsake kind of thing.

Thanks. It's going to hold six special collectible coins but we might do some more boxes bigger or smaller in the future.

@simone10 Yes, it's been sold now. There wasn't much interest in it but we got $50 for it. The coins themselves are worth $5 or $6 each for starters.

That turned out really well, and it is very beautiful! I'm sure someone would have an interest in that, especially being handmade. Vince did a wonderful job on this project (and you too!).

@JudyEv Can't wait to see what the jarrah one looks like. I love the deeper, darker stain colors.

@kobesbuddy Oh wow!! That is REALLY good. And it tucks away nicely out of sight. I'm often the one that comes up with a solution to a problem but it's Vince who does all the work. Do you find you have good ideas - like the drawer?

@JudyEv Jay was stumped, how to include our computer keyboard. I suggested a drawer, that slides in and out. Here's the outcome:)
