Appreciating Even The Smallest of Things

Businesses like beauty salons, barbershops, tattoo parlors, restaurants, bowling alleys, and other non-essential businesses opened up today in different states. I was wondering how safe that is going to be. I would like to get my hair trimmed but, I'm not going to risk it. Besides ... nothing will open up before May 8th here. I'm not sure anything will get to as long as the cases of coronavirus keep rising. Just 2-3 miles from here 3 more deaths occurred at the nursing home today ... totaling 14 deaths there in the past week or so ... and there are many cases of coronavirus there. It's so sad ... the nursing home is locked down. No family members can go inside at all to visit there. They are worried about their loved ones. It's just a bad situation. Some people do go there and visit at the windows ... with the glass between them. Gracious ... I feel very sad for all of them. I keep the images of them in my mind ... the family stands on the outside of the window and their loved one on the other side ... everyone has tears in their eyes. I know those people need to be hugged. By the time all this is over ... being hugged again will be so treasured. I miss hugging, comforting people. We are all learning to appreciate even the smallest of things. I have already been appreciating the smallest things ... now through this pandemic ... I'm learning to appreciate even more thing. What do you miss doing, what do you appreciate so much more?

Actually I never really went much anywhere except to some stores or for walks so I am just missing that feeling that I can go anywhere and do anything. People here go fishing to the river and I might go to stretch my legs and see the ducks.

Actually I hardly give any attention to the things I cannot do at the moment and I find this works for me. When I do this I don't miss them in a sense because I give all my attention to enjoying and appreciating the things I can do. The things I do now while on lock down may not be the same things as I normally do, but for me looking at what I miss it is like comparing apples to earings, a bit of a waste of time and serve no useful purpose lol... But you can be sure all the hugging and kissing that goes on outside the home will be resumed asap

@GrannyGee Being over 70 I think that my generation (apart from being on a stricter lock down) is not going to feel all the retrictions as much as the younger generation nor have to change our behaviours as much.

I understand. We really aren't doing much different than we normally do at our home. The only difference is wearing a mask ... using santizer (we have always been hand washers) ... seeing businesses closed ... standing in a line to enter a store. We see many people acting normal congregating, huggind, and such. We all have that choice ... we don't want to get sick as Skip and I are all we have ... I have no family. We have our 2 dogs I call the Pups2.

It is better to keep away from crowds or the paces where there is even smallest possibility of getting infection. It is so difficult and shocking to imagine that the same thing could happen to oneself what is happening to others.

I miss going over to friends houses and going out to eat.

I understand. We miss going out to eat ... sitting in the restaurant dining room to enjoy a meal. Now, when we drive for drive-thru fast food ... we find a tree, park under it and eat our sandwiches.

Probably the thing I miss most is church. Second would be people not living in fear. It's sad to see how some are just so fearful, like the lady in the store yelling at everyone to get away from her. I know she wasn't like that before because I remember her shopping before this pandemic.

Wow, she sounds terrified. That's not good for her physical, mental health. I know it affects me in the way that I become very sad and it takes days to feel better again. I saw on the news recently that many, many people are having problems being upset, sad, so on. I am sorry for that lady.
