The Wild Ones

I’m not too surprised to see this photo our older son took of a fox with a squirrel and badger in its mouth. Afterall, Doodles the cat caught three chipmunks at once last summer.
What surprised me was pure coincidence. Our younger son took a walk in the woods last Saturday looking for a black bear that had been spotted, but came to a rise and thought better of not going to the edge of it. He warned a woman with a dog to leave as well as a family with two young children.
When he told us of his very wise decision, we talked about the wild animals we have come across in our area. The fox was one of them, but we haven’t seen them in years.
So as he drove to our house to borrow something yesterday, he came across a fox crossing a road, another fox further down the road, and one trotting along our street.
I have heard of more wild animals out and about lately. Have you seen any? I’m afraid to return up north!

Nope. Haven't seen any. Maybe they are out and about because there's less traffic in that area.

@LindaOHio I will stick to the inside of my house to quarantine myself and hope they are all back in the woods before I venture out, thank you very much. Remember, I don't have Doodles to protect me anymore. lol

@DianneN lol I don't think you have to worry. Unless they're rabid they will stay away from humans.

Not more than usual..but no doubt they are around. It would not suprise me to see almost any kind of critter around here. I should get a wildlife cam. I am curious as to what would show up in the back. Although perhaps, I don't want to know, it might freak me out.

@DianneN Fox and coyote are the 2 here that I dont want in the yard at all. Raccoons are not welcome either. Those try to get my birds and the coyote might try to get the goats. We seldom have bears in this area anyways. Once every few years hear of one being spotted. If we had those the horses would be stalled at night also.

@wolfgirl569 I'm sure that would be a huge problem. I wouldn't want anything to harm your babies.

It's impossible to see them here in the city except at the zoo. In the domestic and rural parts it is possible ... I had the opportunity to see the fox and the rabbit, the deer ... the bear or the wolf never, and I have no desire

Living in a city is not a place you'd want to see a wild animal, although it's happened here in some cities in the USA.
I would have a heart attack if I saw a bear or wolf, but that black bear was seen in my woods. I will be peeking out the window a lot when we return north.

@LowRiderX I think it depends on the type of bear. Black bears seem to be dangerous when they have babies.
My uncle was eating lunch in his car in Maine, when his car was surrounded by brown bears. They scratched up his car and scared him senseless. He drove away as fast as he could.

@DianneN Hunters here say that is a gift from God, if you see a bear, because is almost impossible...they run away from people, rarely who even managed to see a bear ... I believe it is here in small country, not so in many major countries
But hey, we have zoo

In the city where I live, a couple of pumas came down from the mountains for the first time in years. The authorities think that as there is less noise in the city,, they try to recover what it used to be their territory.

Maybe it has something to do with the pandemic. Here, we have noticed new varieties of birds and in the morning the sound of birds are getting louder and merrier. That may be due to the clearer air, less pollution.

We've had more fox roaming around here late!y. Some look pretty mangy as people have been posting picture on our towns Facebook page.
That's a great picture your son took and that fox looks pretty healthy. With everyone being stuck at home the animals are wandering more.

Because of this lull with people, the wildlife feels safe, wandering closer to where we live. It's happening around here, also. They are regaining ground, that once belonged to their parents!

It's very scary when wild animals comes in street because they are very smart, and we can't face them as they can run fast as well as strong. In our street sometimes elephant come but not from forest but with his man who take him.

I am in a city so no wild animals here. Though, we used to get coyotes so there might be a chance that coyotes might come back!

@DianneN They are pretty chill. I have seen some down the road when I was little and they just stared and ran back to the canal where they travel.

The fox ignore humans, but do hunt for food. I’m surprised they are out again.
