We're now REALLY bored and tidying up the workshop

We have made a start cleaning out and tidying up our workshop. We have quite a big shed some distance down in the paddock and a smaller workshop nearer the house. Mostly we keep it relatively tidy but over the last few years it’s become a gallimaufry (a jumble) of tools and bits and pieces. I think the rot set in (meaning it became really untidy) when we finished converting the bus into a motor-home.
We’re spending an hour or so a day on it. That way, it doesn’t become too overwhelming. You can’t see much difference yet but there are quite a few boxes of stuff that will be chucked out next rubbish day. However, I thought you might like to see the sign I had made for Vince for Christmas probably about 30 years ago. Goodness, time flies sometimes.

It's the corona-symptoms you get when you don't have the virus! You start to tidy. The shops for garden things and paint, furniture etc are selling like never before here.
I haven't gone that far yet, but I still feel the symptoms. I have enough to do, but today I started washing my winter shoes so they ready for the autumn. 'Cause that made sense somehow.

@JudyEv I've been glaring at my cupboards and closets, thinking that I should start taking things out to see what's in there but I will wait for a week or so. I'm sure the corona-reorganising-bug will be infecting for many months to come, so I should leave some for the summer.

I like the sign! I saw a decluttering expert on TV She said put everything in the donate box you won't use in two weeks. Yikes! There would be nothing left here!

@JudyEv U think I wouldn't put anything in the box unless I hadn't used it for two years.

I couldn't do that. Sometimes I don't use stuff for months but then I really need whatever it is. I'm thinking about when we'd have a lot of people during the music concerts. I'd need big platters and lots of plates, etc at those times.

@RebeccasFarm I have been able to give some of my mother's things to one nephew. He and my mother had a very special relationship.

@DocAndersen @xFiacre has come up with another one - tittynopes which are the small pieces of food you leave on your plate when you've finished eating. Isn't that a beauty too?

I have been scrubbing the kitchen. I still have some shelves that need to be lined.

I'll add the photo here. Gallifmaufry is a great word, isn't it? It's a brand new one to me and has really made an impression.

You'd think it would go slowly with the social distancing etc but the days still seem to fly by.

I was pleased when I thought of it - and he likes it too. Thanks

@judyev I'm afraid that my attitude would be that if it is Vince's shed then Vince can keep it tidy! I think many homes and sheds will be mysteriously more neat and tidy soon - one of the side effects of coronavirus. We either busy ourselves out of boredom or let everything slide because we know there'll be no visitors. Nice use of the word gallimaufry by the way.

I hope I've used 'gallimaufry' correctly. I had a Japanese crochet book once which advised that, when washing crochet work, you should 'squeeze the lace tenderly'. It's easy to see how one could get caught out.
I really enjoy tidying up sheds, etc, even if Vince should be doing it himself. Besides, I'm much better at it than he is but I need him to say what should or should not be kept.

It is indeed and it also makes us feel better if our surroundings are neat and tidy.
