A Plea for Forgiveness

The two men sat across from her as people bustled around them. She nibbled on a platter of french fries that she ordered while waiting for the two men to arrive. If truth be told, the woman wished that the two men would get on with whatever they wanted to say. Instead they exchanged pleasantries, mostly with each other as she just listened. Oh, they tried to include her but she answered as briefly as she could manage.
Finally they came around to the topic at hand. 'Are you seeing anyone?' the one with the shaggy hair and bulky build asked. Her eyes widened at the question, but she stayed silent. It wasn't any business of theirs, and she couldn't see why it would matter. Single or not, she wasn't going to enter into the same situation she had extracted herself from years earlier.
The shaggy man continued to prod her, but eventually gave up when he saw that she wasn't going to acknowledge the question. 'He's getting married, you know. That's why we are here. He wants to apologize for the way he treated you.'
Ah, so it was a clean conscience he was after. Well, it wasn't one she would be providing him. 'Allow me to extend my congratulations then. Now, if that is all I'll just pay for my meal and be off.'
She stood with her purse in hand and turned towards the register at the entrance. 'Wait' the plea came from the other man, the shorter, more rugged looking one. 'That's it? You're not going to say anything more?'
The woman shrugged and walked away. What was there to say? In her mind, this whole exchange had been a waste of time.

Then I woke up.. But not before ending up going to meet the fiance, and honestly feeling bad for the girl who ended up with my ex husband...

Not one I'd want to write!
Further in that dream... Well, my ex mother in law was a lot more comforting to her new (soon to be) daughter in law, while my ex was just as much of a jerk as he ever was.

@simone10 In the dream, I did start to feel a bit upset because she was nicer to her new daughter in law than she ever was to me. At the same time, however, I just didn't want to be there at all. I didn't understand why I had to be. Then, I realized that it was mainly to warn the new girl.

That was a good one. Glad it wasn't real.

Yeah, it was a strange one. In the dream, his mother and the fiance expected me to be involved in the planning of the wedding. His mother apologized to me too for the way she treated me, but she was adamant that I stay and help them plan. I tried to take the fiance to the side and warn her what kind of man my ex husband was, but she wouldn't listen. Another scene I can recall is of the fiance running out the door in tears after speaking with my ex husband.

@LindaOHio Well I didn't need the dream to tell me all that.

I am glad it was too. I wouldn't have even gone to meet them had it not been

@amitkokiladitya I think I must be dreaming about my ex husband because I've been talking about him lately.
