Walmart Grocery Pick-Up Today

Last week my hubby picked up our order so I was the chosen one today to run the errand and pick up the groceries. This was our second order with Walmart grocery pickup.
I got my email about one and a half hours before my pickup time to alert me to was was out of stock on my order. This only amounted to 6-7 items and one item had been substituted. This was okay because it was pasta and I got a brand upgrade at the same price.
I left my home as soon as I got me email stating that my order was ready and made a quick stop at Lowes to go check out the clearance racks. I was hugely disappointed as all the plants were dried up and mostly dead as a doornail. This is not the normal for the clearance racks at this location. I headed on down the road to pick up groceries.
I really like the grocery pickup. You park in a designated parking spot for grocery pick up and call the number on the sign to alert them that you are there. In less than five minutes two employees were wheeling out my order and loaded it into my car. They asked if I knew about the items that were out of stock and I said yes, I viewed the email sent earlier. Then I was informed about the substitution and asked if that was okay. I agreed. They finished loading my car and I was on my way.
We will be using this method of grocery shopping for some time I am guessing. The virus is still spreading and Mississippi is still under stay at home orders. That is fine with me, because I would rather stay safe and unexposed if possible.
Have you used a grocery pickup at any grocery store yet? Or are you still physically going into the grocery store to get groceries?

Sometimes we go to the supermarket when it's our schedule to go out. And sometimes we order the store by phone and it's delivered at our doorstep for free.

@Nakitakona That makes a big difference. You have more things readily available. But I have more room to garden

Walmart and Home Depot use the exact same technology systems, so all of our processes are very similar. Home Depot has the exact same curbside pickup service as Walmart does. It will be interesting to see when we return to the new "normal" how many people continue with the curbside pickup. It's a very efficient and convenient system, and we love it at our Home Depot store!

@moffittjc Is their system like Lowes? I always order online for pickup and hubby comes unraveled. However, the people at this Lowes location are pretty much idiots. We ordered a dryer a couple of years ago and it took them almost two hours to find it and get it up front and figure out the paperwork and computer. Tried to get me to pay for it again...umm no, I paid for it when I ordered it. It's amazing how some of these people get no training or either let it go in one ear and out the other. I hate both stores because things are so spread out. You have to walk back and forth to get what you need. I don't even go in anymore most of the time or go to garden center while he gets all his stuff. So annoying!!

@kareng At my part-time job at Home Depot, they have put me in charge of all the online orders. It's amazing at how the technology works, and makes it seem so seamless to the customer. But there's so much behind the scenes stuff that goes on to make sure the orders get picked and staged and ready for customers to pick up! It's all pretty cool to see in operation.

I don't go to Walmart and nope on curb side pick up. I have found a smaller grocery store in my area that has some fresh produce so I go there cause there are less people in there. I only go every ten days and I try to get what I can and get out.

The small grocery in town is not good anymore. The produce is not fresh and the meat is bad and turning colors. I quit going there at all. The only full size grocery stores are a town over, about 30 minutes away. There is a Fresh Market, Kroger and Walmart to choose from.

I go in. There is such a long wait time at our store and I always go to Sav-A-Lot first anyways. They dont have the pickup.

no I can't because I use food stamps. So I go in the store to get groceries. But I have used their pickup for other things. I also used Petsmart and Petco's pickup service.

Personally. Cannot trust orders to be correct and I don't want dented cans and close expiration dates fobbed off on me.

We don't have a smartphone; and Walmart requires one to participate in grocery pickup. Our Giant Eagle doesn't offer it here.

You need to check on that with the manager. I get an email when my order is ready. I reply to let them know I'm on my way. When I get there I park and call the number on the sign to get my groceries brought out. Don't have to have a smart phone.

@LindaOHio I bet that was the original plan and they found out it wasn't necessary. And also gotten a lot of complaints.

@kareng I really should. It's not fair that you have to have a smartphone to use the service.

@CarolDM It really is. If you normally shop there, you know what products you normally buy so makes loading your online cart pretty easy. I like the fact that I don't have to walk the store for an hour shopping and then waiting in line and loading care and unloading when you get home. Now I only have to unload!

This week our local grocery delivered to our home. I paid over the phone and they left them in our truck bed for us. Our Friday virus update was so sad. Did you see it had doubled ?
