Internet Down Since Last Night

Made it safe through the thunderstorms and tornado warnings last night. There are many trees down in the neighborhood. A firefighter neighbor in the next town was killed, only 27 years old. Over 130,000 were out of power this morning. The storm with winds of 60 to 80 mph caused a record power outage for Nashville. Officials said some customers could be without power for as long as a week or two. Trees have fallen on homes. A father and son had a tree fall on them, they have severe back issues but are alive. Some were out in boats, as the weather was beautiful until the storm suddenly appeared. They had to be rescued. I have heard of two deaths so far. I hope it doesn't climb to more. Many more stories. 90 and 100 year old trees were uprooted by the straight line winds. But I am safe, no damage here. The power flickered but never went out. But the internet went down last night. Just came back on a few minutes ago. I can deal with no internet to know things are safe and I am alive. These storms can be very scary and cause a lot of damage. My thoughts are with those families that lost loved ones. The photo above was a neighbor three streets over. The family are all safe. The alarming video below shows construction workers caught on the roof during the storm. Boards were flying in the air. How scary. They all survived.

one of the things utility companies are trying to figure out is how to get rid of telephone poles and the lines on them. moving to underground lines in the US could be a 20 billion dollar cost though. plus there are places that it just isn't effective. Glad you were ok!!!!

Thanks. It was a scary storm with lots of damage. There were many utility poles bent in half. It looked like tornadoes went through the ares. Underground lines would be excellent. But I know they are expensive.

@CarolDM the issue is states are requiring underground so legally there is going to be a scramble (New York is the first)
