Was out walking around in the yard just now. Picked up a few limbs from the storm. I noticed a robin on my deck privacy fence. Kind of odd. They are usually in the trees or the yard.
Walked on the deck to see what was going on and tah-dah, a nest. It is huge. It goes all the way back in the corner of the fence. The spot is not the best, a lot of traffic in this area. Birds are always flying around and the hummingbird feeder is close as well.
I will watch this nest and see what happens. Robin eggs would be nice to see. They are a beautiful blue. I hope for the best. Sometimes they build, then get scared away and do not return. I will keep you updated.

I love the color of robins' eggs! Such a pretty blue! I hope they lay eggs so you can see them.

I just noticed a couple of blue-jays moving in the tree outside my living room but hope they aren't setting up as the maintenance people are ready to cut the trees back for hurricanes!!

What a nice surprise. Be careful the robins don't bombard you!

i would argue CBL -(your designation not mine) that it isn't surprising. It is surprising to me when birds don't build nests near your home!

@DocAndersen The yard is fenced in. But cats climb the fences.

You sure seem to discover a lot of nests. The only things that seem to abound around here are squirrel nests, there are lots of those around.

@CarolDM Ohh, Almost all of the trees around here are very tall, even if their was a nest, I probably wouldn't see it.

@snowy22315 Many times the nests are too high.

We rented/lived in a house in Cedar Park, Texas and I guess the tenants before us were the ones who left the birdhouse. I loved looking outside to see if any birds would visit.

That really is a big nest. A couple of years ago we had a hanging fern outside and a sparrow built a nest in the fern. There were 3 little eggs in it so we had to stop watering the plant because we didn't want to drown any babies that hatched. Well, I guess the parents got spooked because they abandoned the nest. I felt so bad for the poor babies that never hatched.

I once had the opportunity to see the nest up close, maybe twice

@LowRiderX I understand. I am outside the city just enough to see nature.
