Reward for Corrupt People

Yesterday, our President announced that he will give a 30,000 pesos ($600) reward for those who will report corrupt officials. Provided that it will be proven of course. The thing is, if they can give away rewards like that in the first place, why do they have to even select and qualify people for getting some petty cash assistance? It's really hard to understand politics and they're even doing it even in the middle of this pandemic. Here's the news clip:
President Rodrigo Duterte has put up a P30,000 reward for each person who will give information about officials who will commit corrupt practices in connection with the government's assistance in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis.

Rewards are definitely not the best approach to prevent or reduce crime.

True. Hopefully it will scare the officials to do something stupid.

I was thinking of doing it. But it's a dangerous path. I'll leave it with the brave souls. $600 is too low to risk our lives.
