Our first fire for the year

Vince went into Bunbury today to get parts for the tile fire and for the TV antenna. So we’ve had our first fire for the year. It will probably get lit most nights now until winter is over. It is nice to sit in a warm lounge without needing to huddle under a blanket.
He needs to go on the roof to fix the antenna but as it’s been raining, the roof is wet so that will get done tomorrow.
He also picked up the mail from our PO box. A week or so back, I took my driver’s licence into the Post Office to get a receipt for ‘payment’. I don’t actually have to pay anything because of my age but I do have to have a receipt. The computer was down they day I went so they posted out a receipt for $0.00 which all seems a bit silly but that’s what had to happen.
Photo of our fire from a previous winter.

One of the things that I love about winter is the ability to sit by a warm fire on a cold night. I hope you enjoy all those upcoming winter nights!
We actually got a nice little cold front that came through today, and it has been nice and cool most of today, which has been a nice change from the warm temperatures we've had recently.

@JudyEv I have already started stocking up on wood for next winter, even though it won't be cool enough for a fire for about another 7 or 8 months here! But one can never have too much firewood! lol

@moffittjc We stock up whenever we can too. As we get older, it gets harder and harder to get our own.

Nothing like a warm fire on a chilly night! Did you bring your marshmallows?

that is odd that you have to have a 'receipt'

@JudyEv Actually the burning of turf is now frowned upon in official circles, maybe even outlawed. I totally agree but would like to be the one exception to the rule - the smell is so good, but they I remember that I’m actually burning bits of ireland that took thousands of years to form.

Glad you got the fire going it looks nice. We will be able to turn our furnace off soon since the summer months are right around the corner and we won't need it anymore.

June, July and August are our winter months so we'll be lighting the fire most evenings now.
