Getting buzzed

I cut hubby's hair, and when the weather is warm enough, I do it outside. I was preparing to buzz him when something "whirred" right past my ear. I did not see it.
My mind instantly thought of cicadas, but it is too early in Kansas for that. So I again focused on my task.
I hear a buzzing about eight feet away and look up.
It was a hummingbird!
Not sure what he was doing here. Hubby says he sees them in groups often.
I do not have any feeders for them, and only one flowering plant at this time.
Maybe he was buzzing me and telling me it was time to get some red petunias just for him.
It is a cloudy, slightly cool day but very nice.
I am working on my morning computer routine, then I shall get outside, providing we do not end up with rain.
Oh, and hubby has nice looking hair now.
Fresh air was good for us both.

It sounds like you have had a productive and an exciting morning, I used to cut my hubby's hair too. How lovely it must have been to have a visit from a humming bird. I get quite excited when I manage to catch sight of a hummingbird Moth in a local park. I managed to get a shot of one see the photo

I had forgotten about lantana--my grandma grew it and the hummingbirds loved it. I have seen these moths, years ago. You got a really good photo.

@maggs224 Oh, it brings back memories of years ago. She had mimosa trees and at the base had all kinds of lantana. She lived in Oklahoma, down almost to Texas, so it was warmer there. I did not know that about Spain.

@GardenGerty Thank you Heather I am glad you liked the photo, though they look more like hummingbirds in real life than I managed to capture in this photo. The orange and gold coloured lantana is the unofficial flower of Spain, it flourishes here. I will be thinking of your grandma and her garden the next time I see a lantana now lol...

All that has ever come when I had sugar water feeders for them was ANTS! I should try though. In thirty years at my other house I had one hummer, ever. I see them fairly often here, and have seen them chase larger birds.

@Jessicalynnt I will have to read up on that. I tried putting vaseline on the outside of the bottle.

@GardenGerty I wonder how you can keep the ants away. Hmmn, "One of the best ways to keep ants out of hummingbird feeders is to use an ant moat, guard or trap. You can either get a hummingbird feeder with a built-in ant moat, attach a guard or moat to your existing feeder or make your own."
Found a video on making a moat!

I know, I just do not do the other kind, but I hoped to attract some attention.

Last summer we visited my husband's cousin in Michigan for the Independence Day holiday. He lives by a lake and has several hummingbird feeders. They made a lot of noise with their wings, sometimes thirty at a time.

I will likely trim my own. I usually do. I am letting it grow out long.

@Courtlynn My hair is thick and wavy so I always felt it did not matter if it was not perfect. It always perks up when I trim it. My daughter's hair is straight, but what we always did was make braids all around and trim off the ends that were not in the braid. I bet there are You tube videos about it. I am dangerous when bored though. My first husband was a truck driver, and I often would stay up really late. One night I gave myself a really short hair cut.I was waiting up for him to be home. He did help me even it out just a little bit.

If I get on it before it gets too long it is easy and looks good, too. Thanks.

As far as I'm aware of hummingbirds, they only live in the US. We have a butterfly that is similar to a hummingbird, people often mix them

You may be right about where they live. @maggs224 posted a picture of a hummingbird moth.

@LowRiderX Some people need to study a little more I guess.

@GardenGerty Most people here don't know that, they mix a bird with a butterfly, although they are similar in size
