My daughter was supposed to be on a quarantine break but she's called back to duty, her fellow resident has been compromised. Sigh. So, I have to prepare her "baon" for the duration of her duty. The chicken "nilaga" is steaming now, as with the rice. Been awake since midnight, peeling potatoes and squash, and okra. The "sabaw" with ginger and onion is most important to combat fatigue. baon - packed food nilaga - boiled meat sabaw - soup okra - lady finger Okay, the nilaga is done. I'm back to my wreck bed. See you guys later.

Such a caring and loving mother there as well as very supportive. Anyway, that is understandable.

A devoted mother giving support to her daughter who is a medical frontline. I salute you for doing what you can to help her out and to your daughter for doing her duty to protect us.

@rsa101 There's just one prayer I ask of the Blessed Mother - that I be spared of the sorrow She had gone through with Her Beloved Son.

I was once a daughter, a sister, a teacher, a friend. My parents are gone, my siblings far away, my students have grown, my friends departed to other worlds, or another realm. My daughters remain. Being a mother is my life now.

@eileenleyva it breaks my heart knowing these things but it also strengthens my resolve to do my share by staying home and not going out unnecessarily.

@allen0187 The anes docs perform the actual intubation. That is why they get to be the first casualties, aside from the ER docs. Yes, truly grateful for people such as you, the hospitals are still full and overwhelmed, the medical staff has not rested. My daughter's break is mandatory quarantine after over a month of attending to patients. Your action and that of others well meaning and caring are absolutely exemplary. A heartfelt thank you.

The swab test came out, the fellow resident tested negative. So, she goes back on duty tomorrow. My daughter gets to come home. Their anesthesiologist tested positive. Hu hu hu. He was the most meticulous over the PPE because he's got young children. Sigh. I pray his condition is mild. In isolation now.

So you too use okra a lot in summers. This is one of our house's favorite summer veggie. And would Nilaga be frozen and then packed for your daughter to take? She needs to be very careful and my best wishes are with you and her.

Yup, I love okra, my daughter not. Nope, the nilaga is placed in small food containers so she can microwave easily when she gets hungry. Thanks for the kind thoughts and wishes. Blessings to you.
