About a month ago, I wrote about me elderly neighbors, both are around 90 years old. The link is below. They were not doing very good. She had pneumonia after complications from surgery, but was getting better she said. His dementia was worse than ever.
Then the last visit I was told they would be selling their home soon and probably going to live with family.
Lately, I have noticed a moving truck and lots of traffic coming and going from their home. Today I saw a yard sale sign. It was time to go try to find out how they are doing. I try not to intrude, and allow their privacy.
The oldest daughter was there. She said they are both in an assisted living facility. Her mom has now developed blood clots. And her short term memory is not good.
As I was leaving, the daughter gave me the tea set in the photo. She said I know she would want you to have it. We had many cups of tea together over the years. As the tears came for both us, I hugged, thanked her and came home. Life can be hard.
Have been updating you on my elderly neighbor. The couple that has been in and out of the hospital since December. She was doing better a few weeks ago when I...

@CarolDM Here in LA, SWAT would have been dispatched and everyone pummeled to the ground and sentenced to life in prison. Of course, some more convicted murderers would be released to make room for these real villains.

@JohnRoberts I know, I have seen on the news. I probably would have to move if I lived there.

That is so sad, I am glad you have the tea set.
The place I used to live at was a nice mobile home park, my neighbors on either side, lived along and 80, 90, and it seemed someone was always passing away. It made me really sad. I am actually glad I am not there any more, because I get too emotional, when they started passing away.
Same with this neighborhood, a lot of older people , and some not doing so good.

@CarolDM You are right about that, life has a way of happening.
I am not seeing any new people here, all have mostly been here forever. I moved in in 2011, a lot has changed, a older woman I used to walk with , it seems she got dementia, during the last three years, doesn't know me any more, Her daughters live with her now and take care of her, I am very sad about that. Seems like yesterday she was alright.

@CookieMonster46 They have added on and replaced the dairy farm with homes here. Life happens sadly.

I'm glad you will have a memento of them. So sorry that they won't be living there anymore; but it sounds like it will be better for both of them. Hugs.

It's sad to see your relationship with your neighbors end that way, but take comfort in knowing that moving them to the assisted living facility was probably the best move for them to ensure they are properly cared for in their remaining days. Plus, you'll always have the tea set to remind you of all the good times with them from the past.
