1929 - In Hollywood, the first Academy Award ceremony takes place.
2005 - Kuwait permits women's suffrage in a 35-23 National Assembly vote. Yay!
1966 - Janet Jackson was born. She is an American songwriter, singer, actress and dancer. She has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Some of her hits: Nasty, Rhythm Nation, That's the Way Love Goes and All for You. In 1991 she signed the first of two record-breaking multimillion-dollar contracts, making her one of the highest-paid artists in the industry. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
1973 - Tori Spelling was born. She is an American actress, TV personality, socialite and author. She is best known for playing Donna Martin in Beverly Hills 90210 starting in 1990 and in 90210 in 2019 on television. Some of her movies: Mother May I Sleep With Danger (1996 & 2016), The Last Sharknado: It's About Time, Scary Movie 2 and Kiss the Bride.

The first Oscars were held at the Hollywood Roosevelt and I have been there. Tori is the daughter of Aaron Spelling.
