How did you all fare?

We got four to seven inches of rain in to days. It seems that the front picked up a tropical storm around Alabama and dumped it in our areas. How is it there in Alabama, Andria? Did you have to evacuate are you safe from the storm? Two to three years ago we got that much rain in a weeks time and many basements flooded along with roads. No one was told to evacuate. There are several days to the north of us and they contacted the day control people about letting some extra water out slowly and were denied so when it finally overflowed everything downstream took the hit from it. This time I've not heard if anyone was contacted beforehand. I think, imo that it happened so fast and we got more of the residual water from elsewhere that maybe we weren't fully prepared but now the dams are collapsing and one was just replaced after the last flooding. This time though they began evacuating areas before the roads got bad. We are in a no flood zone and didn't leave although our back yard has standing water near the property line as does a portion of our basement. My daughter did evacuate with baby, husband and their dog last night. How about you, especially those in America but I know everyone gets hurt with weather catastrophes at one time or another. How are all you doing?

None of the extremes are fun. I hope you get a reprieve soon from your heat.

I heard about your flooding. We didn't get as much rain as you, but we still had flooding with what we got.

That's unfortunate about the flooding there, Valerie. I hope your storage didn't get wet assuming it's in the basement.

@just4him that's good. Do some have basement there? I know they're not as common in southern states.

@MarshaMusselman I don't have a basement. No flooding in my neighborhood.

Hope everyone is safe. We have been getting rain every day here in Idaho. I like the rain and it is just light.

We need rain but flooding doesn't help matter much. Glad your rain was light. I need to mow later once the sun dried the grass more. Maybe this afternoon.

Doing fine out here in California. We've had some light rain here recently, but nothing flood-worthy.

Well that's good that your rain was light. Did you get enough to do some good? If our rain was light it wouldn't have impacted the dams but we got in two days what took a week to get there a few years ago. Then our city had some flooding but not the homes on the lakes like happened this time around.. This time it washed out several lower bridges and many homes are trashed and will need a wrecking crew.

It was exceptionally hot this past week and now we're getting more rain but it sounds minimal compared to last week.

We had a similar rain a few years ago. It didn't blow our the dams but too much water was let out too quickly so many homeowners near the several rivers going south had to redo their whole basements. Now they may have to do that again. We get a little water in our basement but probably just need out basement tiles replaced.
