Just Using Up Some Food

This should be gag worthy but I am going to do it anyway simply because THAT'S what I do. I want to use up some food. I have some ground beef I have been wanting to use to make some hamburgers, but the rain has been relentless so that's not in the cards. I COULD just cook them on the stove, but I prefer them on the grill. I have some tortillas I need to use up. I will brown the ground beef with some seasonings and onions, some black olives and onions and some tomato I have leftover from some taco salad bowls we made. I will put that mixture into those tortillas and roll them up. Then a bit of swiss cheese will go in them. I will pour Manwich sauce on top of that. Sort of like a leftover beef/taco/Sloppy Joe enchilada if you want to call it that. I'll keep the toilet lid up in case either my wife or I need to make a quick dash to throw up tonight. What's for dinner tonight for you?

What I have found over time is that things that are good separately, combined, are often times also good together. These turned out rather good.

We had hamburgers cooked on the stove. They were edible but would have been much better on the grill! I would have substituted salsa for the Manwich!!!

@kareng Salsa would have been a great choice as well. These actually turned out to be quite delicious nonetheless.

@AmbiePam I think too many people have a hard time thinking outside the box. Think of it this way, some people put swiss cheese on a sloppy Joe sandwich. This is basically a baked sloppy joe wrap. lol

Fresh food, that is what I will eat. I stopped on my way home from work and got a pound of pulled pork and baked beans. I will make mac and cheese to go with. I liked the sound of your dinner till you got to the sloppy joe sauce, that made it nasty.

You do not know what you are missing. Someone once told me that if there was a guy to CREATE a recipe, it was me. I'll just write the books. You just eat the food.lol

Never personally been a huge fan of sloppy joe itself, but I do like the sauce for other things.

@Aquitaine24 We had it from time to time for sure. I think I liked them more when I was a kid for whatever reason.

I think that sounds pretty good, actually. We finally got enough of a break in the rain to grill some steaks yesterday, but it's pouring again today.

Like you, I am also not feeling good with leftover food in the fridge. The last time we had spaghetti was last week. It was a lot that I had to give some to the neighbors. It is better than having so many leftover that we couldn't eat.

Using up leftovers is no big deal. I do it all the time. I learnt it from my mother. The new concoctions are usually tasty.

That piggy looks pretty happy with his dinner! Did you survive yours? I think I just grazed last night.

@porwest Exactly. I try to consider what my stomach thinks when it all gets there. The rest isn't (that) relevant.

I did survive, and I might have wound up being as happy as that pig. lol. I think people have a hard time wrapping their head around certain combinations. This one, when you break it down, is basically just a sloppy joe wrap from what I can tell.

@TheHorse So long as it tastes good going in, that's what counts for me in the end. Mostly it works out just fine.
