MASS TERMINATION due to LOCKDOWN!!!

It has been more than a month that my online tutorial company executed 'mass termination.' For this reason, many virtual teachers lost their jobs and that includes my good friend. The issue is due to lockdown and the company didn't practice 'social responsibility.' The virtual teachers cannot open their classes online. Now, I'm on a mission to find a new company as a backup. Despite being a tenured virtual teacher, this company will not have a second thought to terminate me, too. 'Is it right to terminate people secondary to lockdown?' @Shavkat I am sorry about your friend. I understand why you want to cover yourself after what happened to your friend. I will never understand why employers do what they do.

This company is not good at taking good care of their employees. Most of the staff are puppets

I think if that means to save their business then maybe it's right. I'm sure your friend can find another one right away and good to have a back-up also.

They are just unreasonable with this matter, my friend. My friend will file a complaint against this company after things will be fine with this COVID-19.

I think it is an excellent idea to try to find a backup position. The company would have any qualms about putting people off if it suits them.

From what I am hearing there are a lot of places that are getting rid of workers due to the change in the business. If they can't keep the workers on staff due to a loss of business then they really have no choice but to let people go. It is sad for the worker but if the business doesn't have the money to pay them, really what choice is there.

The company is fine, my friend. They are just wanted to control the people under them. In fact, the company's staff are control freaks.

@Shavkat Well I guess that is an issue. Maybe that is not the type company to work for them anyways.

In some ways it's like when so many people lost their jobs due to the recession. I was one of them that lost my job, by that time I was in my late 50's, so even though I went back to college to earn a high degree, I never got a job. I guess I was to old by then.

My company is trying to be strict and unreasonable. I do think that some companies are trimming down their employees at present.

There are some virtual teachers who worked with the company as part-timers and work at home. Before the pandemic, some of them are affected in Batangas due to the volcano eruptions and then lockdown after. Some of them are mothers who need to take good care of their kids and not be affected by this COVID-19. In fact, they are home-based teachers. I assumed that office-based teachers allowed them to work at home. Regardless, I advised my friend that she can file complaints against this company after things will be fine in our country. Since it was declared by the government that they cannot terminate employees due to lockdown before. The mass termination is deliberately done to home-based teachers.

A lot of businesses are adversely affected due to the pandemic. I hope your friend finds a job real soon and good luck with your job hunting, too.
