Ready to take my chances - Opinion

So tired of all the Covid-19 coverage from the major media outlets. It is crazy how they are all over the place with hospitals are still overflowing, the death rates are still going up, states are opening back up and things are getting worse. If you just do a little research on the internet it tells another story. Things are not getting worse. I don’t know for sure I am not a doctor or scientist and don’t have all the numbers in front of me to know. What I believe is that this lockdown has gone on long enough and we have to try and get back to some kind of normal life. I guess for me it is a risk I am willing to take. Try and be smart about it but we have to get back to life. Here is the thing that I look at. There is a risk of getting it and dying but we take risks everyday and we don’t close down the country for it. Here are a couple things that I have thought about. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there were 36,560 deaths by auto accidents in the U.S. in 2018. According to the CDC – over 3,000 people die each year from food poisoning. According to the Home Safety Council there are nearly 6,000 deaths per year from home injuries. Most of us drive every day, most of use eat every day, and now most of us are stuck in our houses every day. Point I am making is that everyday we take our chances with things that could kill us, yet we don’t hide in our house for months on end. We get out there and live and hope for the best. Maybe it is just me, but I am ready to get out and take my chances that I will not catch something. I will be careful and take precautions just like I do with anything else.

I don’t feel safe going out yet. Our county is a hotspot.

@Bensen32 if others are willing to take the risk that is their prerogative. Some have no choice and have to go out for various reasons. I do object to those that will not take the necessary precautions and put not only themselves, but others also at risk.

@Tampa_girl7 I suppose you are right, seems everyone has their own opinion of what is risky and what is not and I guess that is the hardest part of it all is getting everyone on the same page.

Of course some will not feel safe going out yet but does that mean everyone should have to stay at home and wait for everyone to feel safe? I don't believe it does. I mean I get from people that disagree with me that we shouldn't open up yet and that I shouldn't talk for others. I am not, if you don't feel safe then stay home. I'm not forcing anyone to go out if they don't want too.

You made some really good points but my worry is that the pollution levels will rise even higher now because people seem to be getting careless. Just look how our beautiful Mother Earth has healed in these past few months, that seems to me to be worth a lot and I would prefer to keep humans confined. I know is sounds harsh but humans destroy more than anything else and that almost stopped over the last few months.

I'm not ready to take chances. We made it this far by being cautious, and we don't feel the need to mingle with those who are covidiots.

@Bensen32 I'm out and about in my woods and neighborhood. It's fine for me. Just stay safe wherever you feel the need to go.

LOL, well in that case feel free to say inside for as long as you need to. I certainly am not saying people should or shouldn't go back to normal life but those of us that are ready to should be allowed to.

That is a choice. And I get your point coz that is what i think of sometimes. But there are rules being followed this time to lessen the spread and eventually to stop it.

Yes, and I get that and I have followed that for going on 3 months now, but when does it stop?

Every one has their opinion, and if you feel unsafe then just stay home.

@CarolDM Yes, but I wish more of them would use a little more common sense and patients with how they are handling it.

I too am tired of it all and when I finally went out last Friday I was scared because of what everyone was talking about online. As it turned out I did not wear a mask and all the way to and from the store I had the street to myself and the store was empty. So now I am going to start taking walks too. The heck with it all.

Yes, I been taking walks for a while now and if I see someone I just stay a distance away from them and in my experience so far they are staying away from me.
