Helping Neighbor's Daughter Pack Up Things

Walked over to talk to my neighbor's daughter still having a yard sale. Her Mom and Dad are in an assisted living facility. Very good friends dear to my heart. After about an hour of talking, then consoling, then helping her pack, she gave me this garden sphere from her Mom. Another treasure that is now in my garden. Today is the last day to get rid of things. It was really taking a toll on the daughter. The family came and got what they wanted and left weeks ago. Nobody around to help her now except for her husband. Very sad to see this happen with families. She asked me to take whatever I wanted. She said if you take it I will not have to box it up and donate it. That was hard to do. I picked up a few small items that I remember seeing in special places in her home. Now I have treasures and many memories of my special neighbor. Wish I could have done more for her daughter.

At least you are there to help them. Moving out neighbor is where we also extend help to them especially in hauling their things out.

@CarolDM That's your new neighbor. Their grandson. Did you welcome him?

That's what I thought as soon as I saw the picture, I'm intrigued to see what kind of gift it is now and I like it!

I can imagine how hard it was for her. When my ex husband's great grandmother had to go into assisted living, it was much the same. Cousins came out of the woodwork to take this or that, but then it was just me, my ex husband, his mom and his grandmother to do the rest.

@CarolDM It's sad, to be honest with you. I don't believe what's going on in the world is much of an excuse either.

She is still over there, for weeks now she comes on the weekends. Seems most families are like this.

I think it is always hard for the children to give away the things which were from their parents before but they canĀ“t avoid it.

Helping your neighbors daughter certainly was an act of kindness. I really like your sphere and it looks nice in your garden. A little reminder of your neighbor.

It would be a real ordeal to have to do this which is why we have started trying to get rid of things. I'm glad you took a few things. I'm sure your neighbour would be pleased for you to have them.
