Strange phenomena during lockdown

Scientists and farmers in India are baffled to find increase in the population of Grasshoppers during the lockdown. Usually grass hoppers are commonly found during the rainy season but to find them during summer is strange. Scientists feel the reason could be that , during lockdown the farmers were not able to till their land and so the eggs laid by grasshopers remained undisturbed and hatched. Now swarm of grasshoppers called locusts are eating away crops which have not been harvested. Spraying insecticide will lead to increase in cost so some farmers are using plates and vessels to make noise so that the grasshoppers fly away. Have you observed such strange phenomena during lockdown? How was the problem resolved ?

I wonder if the deluge of grasshoppers has something to do with the corona virus. We have noticed here the proliferation of the flying termites, twice already in a span of 1 week which is unusual.

yes it could be the reason. As people are staying at home the plants, the soil are undisturbed.

@Alexandoy thanks. humans are important part of the food pyramid. when the higher animal / organism in the pyramid becomes extinct or is inactive the lower animal/ organism starts multiplying.

@jayanth_77 That does not sound good. Now, after reading more it is really bad news. I have no idea if it happened here with the farmers.
